I posted an article on Palin from the Los Angeles Times, and milagro noticed that the LAT referred to Sarah Palin as Ms Palin.

Is there a reason the MSM always refers to Sarah Palin as Ms. Palininstead of Mrs. Palin? Do they refer to Hillary Clinton as Ms. Clinton?

So I did a Google search on the New York Times and Los Angeles Times websites. It turns out that these papers give the title of Mrs. to Hillary Clinton, but Ms. to Sarah Palin.
But Ms. Palin 91.8% of the time:
For the New York Times, it is Mrs. Clinton, 97.8% of the time:
But Ms. Palin 91.8% of the time:
RACISTS!
(er, wait no ... never mind)

Hey! That’s racist against women! I’m stuned!
Here is a reply that I posted to the NY Times regarding the article on MRS Palin:
September 8th, 2008 2:28 amSo, you state, “She went to extraordinary lengths to ensure that her son Trigs arrival would not hurt her work. “
Gee, I would have thought that a “progressive” paper such as yours would cheer that a woman such as Mrs. Palin could “bring home the bacon” and “fry it up in the pan”.
Her “struggle” upon learning that her son had Down’s Syndrome I’m sure gave her some pause. She had the sense to trust that God had plans for her and her son perhaps not of her choosing and that she had the grace in her heart to say “Not my will, but thine will be done” means a lot to me and hundreds of thousands of us in the heartland of America.
I’ve been through some of the same struggles that she is now facing in my family personally and I admire her dedication to her family, her commitment to the people of Alaska and bravery in stepping out into the storm of media attention that, as this article proves, will try to lessen her as a woman and mother.
All I have to say is “Go Sarah” and may God greatly bless your family as you, as each of us, struggle with this precious life.

And do they call Hillary Senator Clinton? Do they use the term “Governor” Palin? My opinion is that all of these people should be called by their titles. It irks me when Senator Obama calls Senator McCain “John.” I realize that they are colleagues, but when speaking of Senator McCain, shouldn’t Senator Obama use the title?
I agree and try to use the titles here, though sometimes I slip. It’s not only respectful of the person addressed, but of our society...and tradition is of import to true conservatives, IMHO.
BTW, “Mr.” is not an insulting substitute for the elective title.
Need more data. What about the New York Post, Washington Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, AP news, Reuters?
It’s nothing; Hilldog is married to someone who’s rather famous and has some (minor) historical significance, Palin’s husband is just an ordinary guy.
For a little etymology of the word Ms....
It was in use as early as the 1700’s and is to be used in a situation where the adresser is not sure if the addressee is a Miss. or a Mrs. and denotes a marriage neutral title. However, in the 1960’s in the USA it became used by women wishing to be identified with the feminist movement.
It is also used in the case where a woman does not take her husband’s last name upon marriage.
Notice that NONE of this applies to Mrs. Palin!
She got to where She is with out their help. We shouldn’t care what they say, They don’t care what we think, say, only that we buy their papers.
Just Don’t do it
And yes--Barack--words DO mean things! Sometimes VERY mean things!
The MSM is insidiously covert with this sort of deliberate put-down.
I recall first realizing that no one, and I mean NO ONE in the MSM was calling George Bush, President Bush. He was exclusively referred to in the press as Mr. Bush.
This even bled over into the media in general, such as daytime and evening talk shows, like Letterman and Oprah.
I never did a search on number of references, as you have, but I also realized that I couldn’t recall a single time I’d ever heard the press refer to Bill Clinton as Mr. Clinton.
Once I noticed this discrepancy, it simply glared at me with every reference to either man. It’s proven to be absolutely consistent since I first noticed it.
There is no doubt whatsoever that the MSM has done this with President Bush for nearly his entire term in office.
Shouldn’t the correct posting for Hillary be “Monica Lewinsky’s ex-boyfriend’s wife”?
It’s an obvious effort to soften the image of Clinton and harden the image of Palin
Bill Clinton used to call President Bush “Mr. Bush.” He even did it during their debates.
He’s trying to sound friendly and like he’s known Sen. McCain for a long while so they are on a first name basis. The real purpose is to remove status and authority from his opponent.
Yes! How many times did they write about “Mr.” Obama or “Mr.” Biden. Leaving out her title goes with their theme that she’s just a small town mayor.
