I think McCain was trying to curry the Hispanic vote, which is solidly in the Obimsters camp.

Per our constitution, those children are US Citizens. The President doesn’t amend the constitution. I don’t think we have a snowball’s chance of amending it anyway. Our Illegals are here to stay, like it or not. If McCain will deport the most violent of them, that may be the best we can hope for. we can push for more and who knows may make progress there, but i don’t know how you can get rid of 12 million folks without crashing our economy. The logistics of gathering them all up alone would be hideous.

I think McCain was trying to curry the Hispanic vote, which is solidly in the Obimsters camp. I don't think that is true. The Latino vote was very pro-Hillary and I think the older voters will vote McCain.
