God bless your hubby for his service
and suffering. God bless you. We
can never repay you for your sacrifice.
Please, tell him how much we love and
honor him.

That goes for all who served and who
gave so much.

~~~~~
“I wasn’t my own man anymore .. I was
my country’s.”
Stirring statement. And that ending
was something ... swept thru that hall
like wildfire.
They’re replaying Cindy and family and
her speech now.
I agree with your assessments of the republicans but history will be kind to George W. Bush.
Depends on who defeats us, I suppose. The Chinese would be kind, enjoying the way he ran up debt so much and allowed them exclusive access to African mineral resources.
I'm not sure that our descendants, who have to dig out from his liberalism or watch their country decline, will feel as kindly.
“Come to think of it, outside of the Vets attending, where were all the uniforms even in the delegate crowd? Has it always been this way at the conventions? Those uniforms are earned with sweat and blood and they should be allowed IMO.”
I can’t say for certain, its been a long time since looking at a UCMJ, but it may have to do with attending a political activist event in uniform, which it was. Anyone know?
Per our constitution, those children are US Citizens. The President doesn’t amend the constitution. I don’t think we have a snowball’s chance of amending it anyway. Our Illegals are here to stay, like it or not. If McCain will deport the most violent of them, that may be the best we can hope for. we can push for more and who knows may make progress there, but i don’t know how you can get rid of 12 million folks without crashing our economy. The logistics of gathering them all up alone would be hideous.
I am a PROUD Youngstown State University Alumnus! I grew up in Cleveland. Left the state the day after I graduated. I will always love Ohio. But..... you have to go where there are opportunities.
10 million new Democrats will make Republicans a ZERO issues party and conservatives a non-issue.
[Nods aprovingly] Yes, yes, you've surely taken me to school.
I mean, first, there's the obvious fact that Alan Keyes or Bob Barr will receive oodles of votes, just like Fremont, who received over 33%. How could one expect any less, especially after Keyes blistering performance in Texas, where he sucured a whole 0.67% of the vote in that liberal bastion.
Second, there's the brilliance of your rewriting of history. Here I had been thinking that the third party alternative in 1856 was Millard Fillmore of the Know Nothings, who got less than 22% of the vote and only won a single state. I also thought he was the third party guy because the Whigs barely existed in 1856 (it was their last convention) and most of his party bolted to the GOP after his run failed. But no, because of the power of your conviction, I now realize that it was Fremont who was the third party guy! And wasn't the outcome of all those abolitionists voting third party over immigration instead of voting GOP great! We ended up with one of the most incompetent presidents in history, a man who could have prevented the Civil War and did nothing. But hey, what's a million American deaths between friends, especially if a Republican gets elected later?
Okay, sarcasm over. Serious question:
What if Keyes (or Barr, or some other third party wonder) does better than average for a third party guy, say ten times better than Keyes did in Texas. If he gets 6% of the popular vote (and we know most of it would come from states that are currently red or battlegrounds) who would be elected? Who would be inaugurated? Who would be Commander-in-Chief? Who would appoint 2-3 Supreme Court Justices in his first term?
Answer: Obama.
So, we can fight McCain on a few issues and get what we want on the others, or we can argue with Reagan and have a President who disagrees with us on EVERY issue and is an untested twit to boot.
And you guys choose option B. Like I said, that's for idiots.
He is the one that suffered not me. It's a privilege to be there for him. He would say that the true heroes are the ones that never came home or the ones like John McCain.
He received the Bronze Star, I asked him what he did to get it, and he said "my job". That's it. I guess I will never know.
