Things Are Getting Rough Out There (McCain is getting good at this!)

Things Are Getting Rough Out There

From McCain spokesman Brian Rogers, in response to the Obama campaign's new offensive on John McCain's houses:

Does a guy who made more than $4 million last year, just got back from vacation on a private beach in Hawaii and bought his own million-dollar mansion with the help of a convicted felon really want to get into a debate about houses? Does a guy who worries about the price of arugula and thinks regular people “cling” to guns and religion in the face of economic hardship really want to have a debate about who’s in touch with regular Americans?

The reality is that Barack Obama’s plans to raise taxes and opposition to producing more energy here at home as gas prices skyrocket show he’s completely out of touch with the concerns of average Americans.

Before the Rezko deal, the lot was for sale:

Some details of the Snowbama homestead .. more about the deal at link:

"Obama and his wife were already flush with success when they went house hunting last year. Their combined income--bolstered by payments for his best-selling autobiography and advances for future books--topped $1.67 million. His wife, Michelle, had recently been promoted to a $316,962-a-year position as vice president at the University of Chicago Hospitals.

House has 4 fireplaces

They were drawn to a 96-year-old Georgian revival home that has four fireplaces, glass-door bookcases fashioned from Honduran mahogany, and a 1,000-bottle wine cellar, according to real estate listings and an interview. The house and the adjoining yard--which is surveyed as a separate lot--are rimmed by 12-foot-tall evergreens.

In the past, the two lots had been sold as a single estate. But in 2005, the owners listed the two parcels for sale separately."

~~~
Zoning changes .... ? I'll just bet that happened first, maybe with some 'persuasion.'
~~~

The mansion of Snowbama's 20-year former, now retired 'pastor' and 'mentor,' Jeremiah Wright:

~~~
"(William) Ayers, 63, ((MY NOTE: 60's Weathermen terrorist)) lives in a three-story brownstone with his wife, Bernardine Dohrn, a comrade in the Weathermen and fellow fugitive for most of the 1970s.
Ayers-Dohrn brownstone probably resemling these
~~~

Christopher Dodd's 'other' home in East Haddam, CT, for which he received unusual terms, while claiming that this and his DC home were BOTH 'primary' residences:

~~~~
One more for good measure, the Feinstein mansion in San Francisco:
This will be our dream team! Mitt and John!!
That's far from a conservative dream team. It's just the usual - the lesser of two evils.
He lashes out at McCain for owning a few homes, not realizing that he has REAL skeletons regarding his own home, his own history with shoddy housing as a “community organizer” and Senator, and a half brother living in a corrugated shack in Kenya. He must be a really crappy chess player.
~~~

And maybe you’ve invented a new term: real estate retard. The can worms ... exploding.

So his kids don’t have to mingle with the riffraff to play basketball?

I heard his neighbors all dislike him. I wonder does he ever invite the neighborhood kids in for a game. With the antipathy in the area towards him, probably not. But I wouldn’t know.

I have a pastor with a bunch of kids. They have a smaller house, but it is always overflowing with people and their kids friends. We go over every Sunday and squish ourselves on the sofa and watch movies and laugh. His wife usually makes snacks for everyone.

Somehow, I don’t envy the Edwards and their big basketball court.

You know Rush has a huge house, but I like that he always says one of the reasons is he likes to have friends and family over to enjoy it.

I hate these hypocrites. All of them talking about global warming and the world ending because we use so much energy,while they use more energy in their lives in a month than an average American family does in a lifetime. Why do so many American people believe their lying ass-s. Frankly that is the reason politicians cannot connect with the American people,we live our lives simply and honestly. I don’t know how many times I have had family and friends tell me they don’t care to vote anymore because they won’t put their trust in any politician any longer. And the same goes for the rich,famous,sexy dumb-jackass celebrities. They drive around in their suv’s,limo’s,jet here and there and tell the American people the danger of global warming!!! Hypocrites!

The conservatives in the house passed great, anti illegal immigration bills BEFORE the 2006 "throw the bums out" campaign (brought to you by Real Conservatives TM) won us the House controlled by Nancy Pelosi.

UPDATE # 3 from Byron York

Housing (Nuclear) War [Byron York]

Did I say that the Obama campaign is in full-court-press mode against McCain on the house thing? What’s the next step up from that? The latest release from the Obama campaign:

CHICAGO – Today, the Obama campaign released a new 30-second TV ad, Seven, discussing just how out of touch John McCain is with the struggles of everyday people. The ad highlight’s John McCain’s desire to just offer more of the same economic policies we’ve gotten from President Bush, as just yesterday he declared “the fundamentals of our economy are strong” and lost track of how many houses he owns.

In addition, Obama supporters are speaking out in battleground states across the country about how out of touch Senator McCain is. Listed below is information on the ad as well as just a few of the events happening today across the country.

BURLINGTON, VT: Vermont State Representative Rachel Weston will be speaking outside her home about McCain losing track of how many homes he owns

LA CROSSE, WI: State Rep. Jen Shilling and La Crosse Obama supporters host a news conference on McCain losing track of how many homes he owns

MADISON, WI: Former US Senator Jean Carnahan holds event in Madison with Women For Obama where she will talk about McCain losing track of how many homes he owns

DES MOINES, IA: Kansas Governor, Kathleen Sebelius campaigns in Des Moines this afternoon where she will discuss McCain losing track of how many homes he owns

KANSAS CITY, MO: Obama Heartland Change RV Tour with State Senator Wes Shoemyer will visit a Missouri family in Kansas City to discuss McCain losing track of how many homes he owns

ST. PAUL, MN: State Senator Tarryl Clark discusses McCain losing track of how many homes he owns

BANGOR, ME: Rep. Mike Dunn, and House Majority Whip Sean Faircloth will hold a press conference to talk about McCain losing track of how many homes he owns

OH: Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen will talk about McCain losing track of how many homes he owns at events throughout southeast Ohio

ALTOONA, PA: State Senator John Wozniak will headline an event in Altoona, PA on McCain losing track of how many homes he owns and the campaign is also announcing a statewide search for anyone who doesn’t know how many houses they own

MI: Campaign for Change offices across Michigan are launching a “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire: McCain Edition” contest where volunteers will be able to win a free “Exxon-McCain” bumper-sticker if they correctly guess the number of houses John McCain owns. Prizes will be only be awarded after McCain clarifies exactly how many houses he owns. To win, the answer must be specific — “at least four” doesn’t count.

TAMPA , FL: Campaign for Change in Florida launched a statewide search to find Floridians who, like John McCain, have so many homes that they just can’t keep track of the number.

RALEIGH, NC: Campaign for Change in North Carolina is holding a press conference in Raleigh with Representative G.K. Butterfield to talk about McCain losing track of how many homes he owns

BILLINGS, MT: A local family will hold an availability in front of a house slated for foreclosure

I’m not flaming you We’re expecting a lot of those because of the “Unfit for Publication” screed on Obama’s website. I’m sort of looking forward to it...the moderators haven’t been giving the kitties enough time to play with their food lately ;-)
