Everything you say is true. I was not unhappy with Reagan very often, but one time was when he didn't follow through on his promise to end the Dept. of Education. The Newt Gingrich congress made a similar mistake by failing to get rid of the NEA. You have to get rid of those monsters when you have the chance. The Dept. of Education was brand new and it would have been tough but possible. The NEA had funded some questionable activities, and politically, it was vulnerable. Those kind of things are symbols that lead to further retrenchment.

If liberals consolidate their hold on Washington in the next few elections, we may never have a chance to reduce government again. The libs have already shown that they don't care about the constitution, and once that it no longer matters except as something we pay lip service to, then our republic will be gone, and we will be in an authoritarian era, where the will of socialists is the rule. We will still have some shadow of the former America, but over time it will fade, and we will become something else.

Killing our constitution is to our era what Caesar's takeover was in Rome. Only this time, it is us who are getting stabbed in the back.

No kicks from me about yours on American Socialists and socialism. What I was talking about, in context, was something else.

Now, of course, if that "energy" could have been harnessed and directed properly in re Afghanistan/Iraq, and now GA -- winning the war would not have been allowed to be so protracted. The left used its energy to hamper positive gains and goals in re Iraq/Afghanistan.

My point was: There's hardly anyone in American who isn't kickin' about something. Whether that be right or left, or even in the moderate "climes".

You raise a good point about the failure of US Intel. I don’t know the answer to that......but it seems we should have photoItel/RadioIntel/or eyeballed with people on the ground, the formation of their assets long before they launched.....and the other possibility coming out of the conspiracy fever swamp is we knew all along and wanted it to happen as a pretext do smack the russkies......ha, we ain’t that clever !

Thank you, keep the pings flying.

There is much to learn from this incident of war.

Don’t forget to add in the Chinese and Iranian components. All of which are well-guarded secrets...at least to the MSM and the Politicians inclusive of W...but nonetheless real and growing.

This is a coming out party, a debutante ball for the Russian empire.

I wonder if they have started political imprisonments and executions again, for nostalgia purposes only....

You changed citation for propaganda. Medvedev didn’t say word Soviet.

No, I didn't, Ivan. I wouldn't do that.

I even cited three different sources to prove that the quote was correct.

Russia state-run RIA Novosti had the quote exactly as I posted it but changed it later to "Neither the Soviet, nor the Russian state has ever started a war." Read it for yourself. Even your own Russian government run media says that Putin's dog Medvedev did say the word "Soviet."

UPI still has the original quote. Either version of his statement is a ridiculous and insidious lie.

Do even you dare to defend this reprehensible lie?

Your leaders are defenders and champions of Soviet Communism, the most monstrous evil the world has ever seen. This is what you've thrown your lot in with, Ivan, the EVIL EMPIRE. You should hang your head in shame and beg the Lord's forgiveness, as should your entire nation. The whole world sees you for the evil that you are.

Even Russia does not recognize S. Ossetia’s independence. Jackbooted Nazi Russia has no intention of ever allowing South Ossetia to be an independent nation.

I think he’s been able to deal with it so far. Russia and China have never been good neighbors. But if you look at the past decade and a half, they’ve been mighty cordial by comparison, and I think it’s a reaction to the fact that the US has been acting as the world’s sole superpower.

You’re not the only one. But I’m not so sure myself. I just hope they won’t very soon, anyway.

Why? I thought they were being held in Beijing. No point in massing forces in a capital city that’s really far from Taiwan when you ought to be aiming your missiles and loading up your warships and troop carriers just across the strait instead.

“Department of Defense spends protecting us...are one of the VERY
few reasons I can muster a smile when I pay taxes on April 15.”

Yeah, I have to envision mine as military support too.

My dad was in St. Petersburg recently, and there was a parade. He said along the entire 3 mile route, there was a Russian soldier with machine gun every 5 yards, facing the crowd with a scowl and a big mustache.

Sounds like the Soviets we all know and love.

“Yes...that’s what I’m trying to say......something below the radar is happening.....and not a good thing if Russia goes unstable...what with all those nukes in their holsters”

I was thinking the same thing about Pakistan when I read Mushareff was resigning...things could get real interesting real fast.

They also do pretty good with vacuum tubes. I bought some the other year for my guitar amp. Maybe I better stock up.

I knoe we've been buying vacuum tubes from then even during the Cold War. Back in the 1980's, our local weather radar set at the NOAA station was so old, it was built in the 1950's, we bought new tubes form the USSR. I know Red China makes vacuum tubes too, worse comes to worst.

IMHO, they aren’t backing down. We are only witnessing something akin to a advance guard maneuvering into the theatre. Maintain wherewithal.

There is no need for them to draw down from their perspective.

Plan for threatening maneuvers on multiple fronts, specifically political, information, economic, and religious. Most maneuvering shall not be obvious.

The Russian flag ranks aren’t that stupid, nor their intel communities who long for a return to worldwide influence.

Anticipate something closer to home to preoccupy us more directly as a diversion in the near future.

“Either that or Russia has written off using the Iranians as their pitchfork. Apparently Iran was about to be taken out of the picture by the Israelis. So Russia is now at least upping the ante and may trying to drive some armor columns into Tehran.”

Yeah, I think that’s where they are headed. They are already allied with Iran and control of the Straits of Hormuz would give them control over much of the world’s energy supply. Makes it easier to blackmail the world into submission (similar to when they cut off the natural gas/heating fuel to a couple of countries last year)

After all these decades, we finally ended up with one of those James Bond-type villains. This one unfortunately already has nuclear weapons.

What you said is true.

If the Russians are not stopped eventually they will continue southward and link up with their Iranian cohorts. NATO needs to act now.

The Russian invasion of Georgia will be your next failed Afghanistan.

Your hero dictator Putin (Stalin Jr.) will one day result in Russia being blown off the map.
