I do believe there is life in space though. this is just one universe of many

It is easy to take guesses, as you are doing. It is one thing to define exactly how our planet and solar system were created and another matter again to create it. Plenty of armchair scientists out there.

I'm really not so concerned about when life may or may not have been able to develop during the 15 billion or so years of the universe's existence, so I'm not making any "common error". Besides, you're talking about things in strictly theoretical terms, so how could I be in error even if I did assume that life could have developed elsewhere 10 billion years or more ago? No one knows one way or the other on that count. Besides, you're talking about conditions making development of life as WE know it possible. Who knows what else might have cropped up?

The assumption that life has been around elsewhere for 11 billion years, or 15 billion years, 4 billion years, or whatever, makes no difference to what I am saying. And that is that 1) the odds of our having been noticed, much less visited, by another civilization in the 70,000 or so years of human existence, or in the 107 years since we started generating signals that might be detected beyond the bounds of our own planet, are incredibly small, and 2) that there is still NO credible, concrete, scientifically verifiable and conclusive evidence proving the existence of aliens.

Sure, we could be the leading edge of the development of life in the universe, but that misses the point I am trying to make. Whether I allow for the possibility of life being able to develop any sooner than it has here or not doesn't change things in any significant way.

That’s how *most* ministers interpret it. Most people too.

Mitchell has not actually seen space alines or their craft. He is relying on what others have said. That is hearsay.

Doesn’t appear that you’ve read much of the literature sufficiently to be able to form a balanced perceptive opinion.

Your assumptions have very narrow tunnel vision.

There’s whole classes of factors not taken into account.

I gather you have

NO ONE

in your life . . . who’s word and perspective you trust as having a lot of validity?

Listening to Hoagland last night, I was astonished to hear that so much is lost from emmory of the Astronauts who were at or on the Moon. What’s up with that?! I would like to research that more ... to see if it is actually true, first.

That would be a fair assumption.

That assertion is hardly worth following up. I agree with Hoagland on some things, but not with anything he has published about glass skyscrapers and domes on the moon. He also floats a lot of pure speculation.

I get this sneaky feeling that the public is being ‘triangulated’.

BTW, have you read through the two-part thing Hoagland has at EnterpriseMission.org regarding the unusual moon of Saturn?

The moon is Iapetus ... a most unusual moon!

That assertion is hardly worth following up.

The memory loss is probably because that was a very long time ago, and they are all really old now. Most people's memory starts to go if you live long enough.

I see Quix is hard at it again today. He is a valiant and relentless soldier for his ideas, isn't he? I'm assuming Quix is a he.

EnterpriseMission.org

I cannot deal with EnterpriseMission.org since I am at the tail end of the dialup and bits tend to trickle out here. I have two of Hoagland's books and always listen when he is on Coast. I appreciate his efforts to question perceptions if they lead to greater interest in space exploration, but I question his perceptions.

Skeptical? Yes, in the original meaning--further inquiry is recommended.

Such as?

I didn't want to write 10,000 words on the matter, just to make a simple point. But if you have other factors that are relevant, by all means, tell us what they are. I can only hope it isn't another round of "Type I error zzzzzzzzzz... Type II error zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz."

The memory is just fine. The problem is in the index table.
