Sen. Edward M. Kennedy's brain surgery was successful and "accomplished our goals," a doctor at Duke University Medical Center said Monday.
Kennedy was undergoing surgery for his cancerous brain tumor.
Kennedy surgeon Dr. Allan Friedman said Monday his patient was awake during the 3 1/2-hour procedure, and should experience no permanent neurological effects from the surgery.
A spokeswoman for the Massachusetts Democrat says Kennedy spoke with his wife, Vicki, right after surgery. He told her: "I feel like a million bucks. I think I'll do that again tomorrow."

Ted Kennedy is in God's hands.
“Hopefully Sen. Kennedy will make a full and complete recovery.”
Agreed, but he will become the poster boy for National Health Care. It will be his memorial.
The hope is for this man's soul. He has done great evil in his lifetime, his negligence directly to blame for taking the life of a young woman, and his policies contributing to the slaughter of an untold number of innocents and scarring of other women. He has been given the grace of time to ruminate on this, and change if God so pleases.
That said, would single-payer healthcare and the caps it would impose be more likely to INCREASE or DECREASE research for diseases like glioma? Incentives for men and women that have given their lives to research? (yes, that is a rhetorical question.)
Prayers for Ted....
"His sisters brain surgery was also successful"
Well, at least Ted can't be blamed for that one.
Hopefully, no one.
“Prayers for Ted...”
I’m going to send my prayers on behalf of others who are far more deserving of the intentions...
When Socialized Health Care arrives, I suspect no one will ever see Hillary standing in line all day at the local Chappaqua clinic.
Define “success.”
The patient did not die!
Sometimes the operation is called a success even when the patient does die.

LURCH CANT HOLD A CANDLE TO TED, THE LION.
May GOD Bless and be with Senator Kennedy and Save Him in many ways,Amen.
Yep. That’s why he went sailing as soon as he was released from the hospital. Between surgery, chemo, and 30-60 days left, his quality of life will be ebbing rapidly. Interestingly, he has looked much better over the past few months. Methinks his physicians told him in October “lay off the booze, or you’ll be dead withing twelve months”. If they had performed a CAT scan then (quite likely), and didn’t see the tumor, it grew within the subsequent 6-7 months (= very malignant).
I wish him well, and think he should be very carefull not to over-exert himself during his recovery. I think he should spend at least the next 5 years resting and stay away from any work in the Senate.
oBVIOUSLY STILL HIGHER THAN A KITE ON DRUGS. Bet he hurts tomorrow!
With his diagnosis, the chances are far less than 1%.
I had a good friend who suffered from a similar tumor. The initial operation went well and he lived for another four yearsand made the most of the time he had left. For Ted's sake, I hope he does well.
After my wife got this disease we got on the Brain Tumour mailing list. There hasn't been a hint of any such treatment. This is an incurable, always fatal condition.
What are the survival rates over time with this treatment?
I’m not feeling a whole lot of love in this thread people!
