It might be Archbishop Wuerl’s idea. I thought it was disrespectful but he wouldn't think so. He did similar things when he was Bishop here in Pittsburgh.

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.

Known to be pretty liberal.

Ugh, no.

Maybe they’ll rerun it again!

Thank you, too. When the Holy Father speaks, I feel peaceful. He seems a bit out of place at this pc mass though.

Is Wuerl the one who gave the opening remarks?

I can’t watch the Mass right now. Is it turning into a liberal lovefest?

It could be worse.

But the Pope’s words now are wonderful. He blessed Priests, parents and teachers. Telling them to guide the children in this increasingly secular and materialistic society.

He’s got that right!!!!

Whose idea was it to have the first reading in Spanish. I find that I am distressed at that. This is the United States of America. Our national language is English.

The Catholic Church is universal. Normally the Petitions reflect that universality at Papal Masses when they are read in various languages. Recently, my pastor and I accompanied a group of parish youth to the National Shrine of the Divine Mercy in Stockbridge MA. We were all surprised to see such large numbers of Hispanics and Phillipinos. Such a pilgrimage naturally meant staying for the Divine Mercy Chaplet at 3pm. The small Shrine was packed - SRO - all around. A young boy distributed the Chaplet. The words were in both English and Tagalog. Prior to praying the Chaplet, the officiating priest announced that it would be in both English and Spanish.

This is America - English is the formal languge of the land. We are a land of immigrants. It is good to also acknowledge them, especially in moments of prayer.

Hard to tell - the mercenaries at FNC continue to run ads.

I’m afraid the American bishops and others have liberalized the Pope on this visit, more than he perhaps realizes.

I understand that, especially coming from a Slovak Catholic parish.

But it wasn’t Slovak, Polish or Tagalog chosen. It was Spanish. And you and I both know, that was a statement by the USCCB.

Although, right at the moment, I can’t care! I’m blessed to be watching this coming from our Capitol!

Hopefully, these things will strengthen the Pope's desire to clean up the American Church. I'm embarrassed for him!
