Feuding Democrats have handed Senator John McCain the gift of time. How well he uses it may determine his chance to beat them in November.
At the moment, Republicans can savor protracted warfare between Senators Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama. As the Democratic rivals trade attacks, Mr. McCain, already the presumptive Republican nominee, has crept ahead of both in national polls.
Yet Mr. McCains advisers recognize their long-term challenges in a remarkably threatening political environment. Voters remain weary of the Iraq war, worried about the economy and disenchanted with the lame-duck Republican president.

So, Obama is called “Senator Obama” but McCain is called “Mr. McCain.”
I thought we knew what he was using this time doing.
What’s he apologizing for today?
In fairness, all three are referred to as Senator the first time they are mentioned in the article, and Mr. or Mrs. thereafter.
Contribute to the Republican campaign.
But when the primary ends, that horse will change color completely. It'll be a miracle if he wins the general, and it won't really matter who the dems and the MSM run against him.
“At the moment, Republicans can savor protracted warfare between Senators Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama.”
and how sweet it is.
Yeah, and it’s “president Clinton” but “Mr. Bush” (when they’re polite...).
Pres. Bush pretty much gets whatever he wants, and, when he doesn't, he blasts the dems. I'm not sure he's such a "lame-duck."

You give the MSM way too much credit. The dems have wedged themselves into impossible situation that will result in an easy victory for McCain. No matter which dem is the nominee the other half of the dem party will be alienated. Recent polls have already show 20% of them will switch to McCain if their guy/gal loses the primary.
I want the GOP to wither and die if contributing gets us more Mccains. I GOP failed to properly fund some of my state’s congressmen and senators for us congress. these guys were true conservatives. all the talk about the gop wanting to pick up seats in the last 6 years, they didnt fund the conservatives....fugg’m
and then we get mccain, which is 80% of the other 2 candidates. btw there is a thread about limbaugh urging republicans to vote in the dem primary...too many post to get my comment in. I hate it when their side does why must we do it? That is part the reason mccain is the candidate....so called “independants” who are democrats and democrats voted in the republican primary
BTTT!
Current polls have no value for this coming November. Dems during primary contests behave quite differently than do dems during general elections. Recall the buffoon, John Kerry? He almost won.
Yes and recall how much the media dumped on W yet he still won. Neither Kerry nor Gore were damaged like Hillary/Obama yet neither could win, even with the MSM’s help.
This is a unique situation where dissatisfied dems actually feel like they have a GOP candidate they could support. Bottom line is that IMO McCain coasts to an easy victory.
