IF SPITZER LIVED IN NEVADA...
15 March 2008 | AmericanDave

If only Eliott Spitzer lived in Nevada, there would be no crime!

It seems Spitzers only crime is living in New York. His wife would still be ticked off, but on the whole; things would be much better for him.

Maybe we should all move to Nevada, is the divorce rate lower?

I thought the Mann act only criminalized the transportation of women for immoral purposes. Men get off, so to speak. (Which would be blatantly discriminatory, if I’m right.)

“You are wrong. The Mannn Act specifically provides inclusion of any person who buys or provides a ticket to any girl or woman to cross state, or territorial or international borders for an illegal or immoral act for which she may be paid. Spitzer is in clear violation of this.”

I DID have the ‘white slavery act’ title in my mind. Wow, just buying a ticket that someone voluntarily uses? Incredible....

They made lying to the government a crime, we better be careful or breathing will be next.... LOL

Thanks for the correction....

Flying from New York to Washington for hookups with govt money is illegal but Flying from Nevada to Washington for hookups with govt money is OK?

Perhaps you haven't thought this all the way through, grasshopper.

Are you advocating for universal law based on the lowest moral standard?

Prostitution is not legal in the whole state of Nevada. Another liberal hit job. His wife would have uncontested grounds for divorce and not just “miffed”. What a hit piece.

So if one of us Freeper ladies buys a plane ticket for a Freeper guy to come visit are we in violation of the Lady Act?

(Not to be confused with the Laddie Act that Senator WideStance got ensnarled in.)

If Eliot Spitzer were the Governor of Nevada instead of New York, I still can’t see his actions being universally accepted by the public, nor by the voters who put him into office.

Just because a state, county or local municipality creates laws that legitimize an immoral act does not make that act a moral one.

If a county in Nevada passed an ordinance that made child molestation ‘legal’, would that make it ok to be a pedophile?

‘Besides what he’s done to his family (and obviously no one cares about that)’

Let me just state, I think this is the biggest ‘crime’ he has committed.

As a Libertarian, I think only ‘crimes’ that hurt other people, are real crimes. Theft, murder, rape, ballot stuffing... ,but adultery is between you and GOD, it is SIN.

For instance, should ‘suicide’ be a crime? Assisted suicide?
In most cases I think NOT.

Does the government want to make us guilty of lots of crimes? I THINK SO.

Its about CONTROL.

Actually the Mann Act was devised to give Congress some degree of enforcement control over what was at the time rampant organized prostitution. It used the tactic of defining prostitution as commerce thereby making it subject to the Congress' oversight of Interstate Trade.

Ironically, it is most frequently employed as a threatening hammer against Organized Crime at the time of the quadrennial political conventions to prevent the host cites from being overrun by hookers.

But if he lived in Nevada he couldn’t have prosecuted those other prositution rings, which is how he makes his money, without witch he would have a hard time getting laid-even in Nevada. Ugly little troll that he is.

(I know he inherited a gazillion bucks, I just wanted to get “ugly” in there)

He’d still be guilty of money laundering, and Mann act violations.

But you are right, that if he lived in Nevada, the Dems would whitewash this... They’d see nothing wrong with it.

Legislating morality is a tricky business. IIRC In some states, you can marry at 14 with parental consent.

This is the genius of Federalism. You want to live in a place where prostitution is legal, move to Nevada. If not, move to N.Y. Everyone wins.

NO, I’m saying that in Massachusetts smoking weed gets you a ticket.

In Oregon or Washington (I forget) you can grow your own pot for personal use.

In Nevada prostitution is legal in some counties, one less crime to be charged with.

In most states you can carry a gun, in DC they arrest you.

The gov’t over criminalizes things that should be MORAL choices.

The notion that things are hunky dory in Nevada is a myth.

Wherever you have “legal” prostitution, the illegal forms of it simply accumulate on the fringe - followed by the inevitable druggies.

It still does not mean prostitution is “good” by any means.
The women are still desperate - they still get abused - and most still want to get out.
Only now - their gov becomes the pimp and condones immoral behavior that is destructive to society.

I’m sure the good families in Nevada just adore the filthy billboard advertisements along the roads with their children in the car as well.
