McCain Steps Up Criticism of Obama
The New York Times ^ | February 28, 2008 | JULIE BOSMAN and ELISABETH BUMILLER

Senator John McCain stepped up his critique of Senator Barack Obama on Thursday by accusing him for the second consecutive day of a willingness to hand over Iraq to Al Qaeda, as the Democratic contenders released record-breaking fund-raising figures.

At a news conference at Hobby Airport in Houston, where Mr. McCain was endorsed by former Secretary of State James A. Baker III, Mr. McCain opened with a formulation of why he contended Mr. Obama is not ready to be commander in chief.

“On the issue of my differences with Senator Obama on Iraq, I want to make it very clear: This is not about decisions that were made in the past,” Mr. McCain said. “This is about decisions that a president will have to make about the future in Iraq. And a decision to unilaterally withdraw from Iraq will lead to chaos.”

Mr. McCain, the likely Republican nominee for president, was reacting to Mr. Obama’s response to a hypothetical question in a debate in Cleveland on Tuesday night, when Mr. Obama said that although he intended to withdraw American forces as quickly as possible, he reserved the right to send troops back if Al Qaeda were forming a base in Iraq.

“Al Qaeda is there now,” Mr. McCain said in Houston, with a tone of belittlement in his voice. “So to state that somehow if Al Qaeda were there that he would consider going back militarily is really a remarkable comment, and I don’t think displays an understanding of the size of the threat and what’s at stake in Iraq.”

Mr. Obama, speaking at a town hall event in Austin on Thursday, criticized Mr. McCain and President Bush over the handling of the economy.

The economy was great until the Dems took over a year ago.

And gas was cheaper, a lot cheaper.

Obama’s attempt is to make McCain/Bush interchangeable. But reality is McCain is known for being a pain in the neck to Bush. And McCain has a winner on the simple fact Obama is not fit to be Commander in Chief of this Superpower.

McCain still refusing to debate Hussein’s defense of Saddam and Sons?

Why doesn’t he defend the Pres, and US policy on the decision to go to Iraq?

They forgot to properly cite the former Secretary of State’s name: James A. Phuk The Jews They Didn’t Vote For Us Anyway Baker.

Is Baker really supposed to help McCain? What, he’s so conservative that he’ll bring in people that his old boss couldn’t. Come on. Sometimes it is more of a help if some people just STFU, and in Baker’s case I’d say that its more the rule than the exception.

the dem’s don’t get the blame for the current economic stuff - the subprime mess evolved under GOP congressional control and is the major cause of the varied economic issues at work.

Oil does its own thing as well for various political and market reasons, apart from the fact a falling dollar makes it more expensive in dollars.

But as far as the CDO/subprime stuff, the GOP and Greenspan deserve much of the credit for this disaster, aside of course from the banking, rating, and insurance sectors.

“I disassociate myself from my criticism of you. “

LOL.

While we are at it ...

Let me disassociate from those who wish to disparage the disassociation you made of those who would disparage the associations of the Democratic Senator, in hopes of disabusing my good friends on the other side of the aisle of the sentiments of comity we feel towards eachother despite the ravenous socialistic marxist agenda of the fine upstanding gentleman who is an honorable left-wing dingbat patriotic crypto-Muslim Senator. He ought not to be held to account for the name his father gave him, nor should he be held to account for anything the New York Times deems is unfit for their front page, for, after all, what sort of campaign would it be if our good friends in the free and fair press cant cover it comfortable and safely, safe in their liberal cocoon?

I tremble for the Republic if people start disparaging John Sydney McCain’s middle name.

I think.

I yield the floor.

The Dems are making the economy worse as we speak. More giveaways and another tax hike passed out of Congress.

Dimwits.

Obama takes pride in the fact that he opposed the Iraq war from the start.

That is to be expected. A MUSLIM would never support a Christian nation attacking a Muslim nation.

“The Dems are making the economy worse as we speak. More giveaways and another tax hike passed out of Congress.”

True, but the stuff done today takes quite a while to directly impact the economy, and even then only slowly.

This stuff is nothing compared to the CDO/sub-prime mess and the related forced devaluation of the dollar.
