Support Wanes in House for Genocide Vote [Turkey]

WASHINGTON, Oct. 16 — Worried about antagonizing Turkish leaders, House members from both parties have begun to withdraw their support from a resolution backed by the Democratic leadership that would condemn as genocide the mass killings of Armenians nearly a century ago.

Almost a dozen lawmakers had shifted against the measure in a 24-hour period ending Tuesday night, accelerating a sudden exodus that has cast deep doubt over the measure’s prospects. Some made clear that they were heeding warnings from the White House, which has called the measure dangerously provocative, and from the Turkish government, which has said House passage would prompt Turkey to reconsider its ties to the United States, including logistical support for the Iraq war.

Until Tuesday, the measure appeared on a path to House passage, with strong support from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. It was approved last week by the House Foreign Affairs Committee. But by Tuesday evening, a group of senior House Democrats had made it known that they were planning to ask the leadership to drop plans for a vote on the measure.

“Turkey obviously feels they are getting poked in the eye over something that happened a century ago and maybe this isn’t a good time to be doing that,” said Representative Allen Boyd, a Florida Democrat who dropped his sponsorship of the resolution on Monday night.

Pelosi thought she could do a quarterback keeper and slip this one through. Instead she will be sacked for a huge loss. This was designed to hurt the Iraq war and cut our supply lines through Turkey.

Middle America is watching the do nothing, lowest rated treasonous surrendercrats Congress led by Pelosi and Reid. There will be blow back against them. Reid is now rated lower than GW in Nevada and would not survive reelection if held today. Nevadans despise him.

Yeah let’s tick off Turkey, now that we’ve ticked off China for hanging around that weirdo Dahli Llama or whatever his title is. Who else can we offend before Hillary becomes president and buries us completely?

Let’s hope they didn’t screw it up beyond repair .

Someone needs to start a “ Daily Traitor “ blog or publication . Everyday they could highlight a different traitorous Dim , Lib group, and even some RINO’s . These traitorous actions are becoming a daily occurrence and getting more extreme in nature .

The Turkish government has lobbied heavily against the resolution . . ."This is what happens when you are up against a very sophisticated multimillion-dollar campaign," said Representative Brad Sherman, Democrat of California

Say what?

Armenian National Committee honors Brad Sherman

Looks like the nytimes employee omitted something.

That’s what I see. They’ve created all the international animosity and tensions without having to sign their name to the paper. They’ll never grow up.

"Support Wanes in House for Genocide Vote"

Well for pity's sake, if the Democrats don't have the guts to take on the Ottoman Empire, there's no way they'll stand up to the Kaiser. That tears it, I'm votin' for Taft.

Thar's danger in them thar' diasporas that are "strongly influenced by foreign governments" and strongly influence our Congress.

Pelosi has long promised the Armenian National Committee of America that this would get passed.

Professor Huntington's book, Who Are We?, discusses our Greek, Armenian, and other diasporas that are “strongly influenced by foreign governments . . . take positions that may contradict American policy or interests and are unwilling to concede that any voice but theirs should be authoritative with respect to the area of the world that concerns them."

And countries like Mexico, India, Red China, even little Armenia have 24/7 access -- in fact, you and I have two senators and one congressman. These diaspora groups have 100 senators and 435 congressmen. Go figure.

I cannot wait to see how the Armenian National Committee of America and the Armenian Diaspora react to this development.

We have established that it is a medical/physical impossibility for Pelosi to blink.

...Nancypants blinked.

And pulled her chin over her forehead. (Psst....It's the Senate that can't get things done.) Yucks and guffaws all around.

Wait a sec... wasn’t she the same woman who blinked at an almost breakneck pace during the SoTU address? We all thought there was something seriously wrong with her eyes.

Now you are telling me she can’t blink? I am so confused. ;^)
