Beijing Scolds U.S. On Quality Control
The Wall Street Journal ^ | October 9, 2007 | By Nicholas Zamiska

(BEIJING) -- The Chinese government, after scrambling to counter a storm of criticism over the safety of the nation's exports, is now taking aim at some of America's largest companies over products sent to China......

......These products include turbines from General Electric Co., ultrasound machines from a U.S. unit of Philips Electronics NV, of the Netherlands, and farm machinery from Deere & Co......

......In some cases, it was difficult to determine the exact nature of the defects from documents Mr. Li provided......

......many of the problems with the U.S. products cited seemed less dangerous than some of the tainted Chinese exports that have surfaced this year, at least in the examples provided by Mr. Li. The problems also didn't reflect the active adulteration that has marked some of the Chinese export cases, in which factory owners have substituted chemicals in components of drugs and pet food to save money......

.....Mr. Li's list also cited shipments of more than 430 Hummer trucks, models H2 and H3, manufactured by General Motors Corp. of Detroit, Michigan, and imported into China by unknown third-party suppliers that Mr. Li's office says didn't meet Chinese safety requirements. "The shape of the front, large headlights don't have clear-cut boundaries between bright and dark" so that "when two cars are driving toward each other, it could have a negative influence on the driver's vision, to cause dazzling," according to Aqsiq. The government cited problems with other, smaller amber-colored lights on the vehicles as well as markings on the speedometer that didn't meet Chinese standards. "These Hummers were not manufactured according to Chinese standards, so there are serious hidden dangers to use these automobiles on Chinese roads," according to a written statement provided by Mr. Li's agency.

GM doesn't import or sell Hummer trucks in China......

Their “complaints” are hillarious. The adult equivalent of saying, “Uh, well, you’re just a doodyhead.”

LOL.

China, home of the implode-on-impact Chery Amulet, lectures the US on automotive safety standards.

When I checked the link after posting, the article’s title comes up as “China Takes Aim at U.S. on Quality Control”. I did not intentionally change the title of the article, I found it on this page at this link:

http://news.google.com/news?client=safari&rls=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&um=1&tab=wn&q=CHINA+EXPORT&btnG=Search+News

Fifth article on the list with the title “Beijing Scolds US On Quality Control”.

What no lead paint? The hummers were lead free?

too funny.

that's what losers and leftists have in common: they're ever inventing more ways to blame-shift.

Also, the Hummers do not radically self-compress in a low-speed collision. This is an important feature of Chinese motor vehicles.

It’s interesting that American papers have to play ball and print this twaddle — spoon-fed by the Chinese government — lest they fall out of favor politically, and lose access to Chinese officials.

Hilarious. Now that’s the pot calling the kettle a pot. My greatest joy will be when the Chinese attempt a financial attack, only to realize that we are the only fools who are ordering their crap...and now we can’t order any more.

Well that new modern brake beats the one they put on the atv junk they try to sell here.

The big problem is that the same lead painted toy that have been recalled are now in container's in this country are on the way here to be sold this Christmas, so we can start the 2008 recall right after the new years, as soon as the little kids have had time to chew all the new paint off of the new toys.

Forgot to add the reason that they are doing this, about american made products, is an attempt to prevent a recall of this season toys that were in the pipe line months ago.

Don’t the shrinks have term for this behavior?

Transference, or something like that?

“a negative influence on the driver’s vision, to cause dazzling,”

I hate it when that happens.

What China is really saying:

“Waaaaaahhhhh! You don’t like our poison products and you told on us! Waaaaah! I’m telling on YOU!”

Most likely just a game of tit for tat; you complain about we send you and we’ll complain about what you send us. Trying to even the bad publicity noise that’s been damaging their reputation the past few months, and deflect some back toward the US.
