Church Cancels Memorial for Gay Navy Vet
FOX News ^ | August 11, 2007 | Angela K. Brown

"We did decline to host the service _ not based on hatred, not based on discrimination, but based on principle," Simons told The Associated Press. "Had we known it on the day they first spoke about it _ yes, we would have declined then. It's not that we didn't love the family." Simons said the decision had nothing to do with the obituary. He said the church offered to pay for another site for the service, made the video and provided food for more than 100 relatives and friends. "Even though we could not condone that lifestyle, we went above and beyond for the family through many acts of love and kindness," Simons said. Wright called the church's claim about the pictures "a bold-faced lie." She said she provided numerous family pictures of Sinclair, including some with his partner, but said none showed men kissing or hugging. The 5,000-member High Point Church was founded in 2000 by Simons and his wife, April, whose brother is Joel Osteen, well-known pastor of the 38,000-member Lakewood Church in Houston. Now High Point meets in a 432,000-square-foot facility in Arlington, near Dallas. Wright said relatives declined the church's offer to hold the service at a community center because they felt it was an inappropriate venue. It ultimately was held at a funeral home, but the cancellation still lingered in some minds, she said.

I agree with the church. It should not be asked to compromise moral principle for the sake of feelings or even family ties. In the Bible, we are commanded to follow God and not allow ties of blood or sentiment to get in the way of serving Him.

Homosexuals always expect everyone else to compromise values, and then whine when it doesn’t happen.

Had this church been a mosque, we would be hearing crickets.

Does the same church deny memorial services to the deceased if they were divorced or remarried?

Those are lifestyle choices too.

Would Jesus have refused to give this man a funeral?

A burial yes. A service, no.

“Would Jesus have refused to give this man a funeral?”

Jesus could have healed him of his disorder.

“Those are lifestyle choices too.”

Same-sex attraction disorder is not a “lifestyle choice.”

Every person that church ever held a funeral service for was a vile sinner undeserving of any favor from the God of the Universe. That’s the cool thing about grace, isn’t it? If Heaven were merit based, my dog would get in and and we’d sit it out.

Red pill: Do as you want, but if you believe the right thing you’re in heaven.

Blue pill: Believe what you want, but do the right thing and you’re in heaven.

“Does the same church deny memorial services to the deceased if they were divorced or remarried?”

Nice try. Maybe you do not clearly understand what homosexuality is vs what a divorced or remarried person is. Homosexuality is an act that is totally unnatural. It involves a LIFESTYLE, a CHOICE OF HOW YOU WANT TO HAVE SEX. It is totally unnatural in the scheme of life as it has evolved.

You see, 100 divorce regular people on a deserted island will eventually have a second generation and so continue the species on that island.

100 homosexuals on a deserted island will NEVER have a second generation. Now if the article had been about a church having denied to hold services for a practicer of bestiality (which is also an unnatural choice of how to have sex and also contrary to human survival) would you have posted the same silly question?

Again, nice try but still ridiculous.

Sinners who don’t repent are not accorded the same rewards as sinners who do.

"Homosexuality is a disorder???? Surely you are joking..."

=========================

It was listed as a disorder in the DSM-II up until 1973 but was removed for political reasons.

They are not joking...and stop calling them Shirley.

You’re right. A man seeking to play with another man’s feces with the strength of his volition is worse than a disorder, it is a perversion ans disgrace to his ability to control his thinking or his behavior.
