Cheek and friend, Mike Cherry, were in a fresh water spring in Florida on June 30 diving into a cave. The trip and dive were no different from any other, nothing spectacular happened except that Cherry kept having problems with his breathing apparatus. And, Cheek felt a little apprehensive about the dive for reasons he couldnt explain.
He had trouble getting down, said Cheek of Cherry, adding that Cherrys ears wouldnt clear up and he got what is called a mask wheeze, which means his nose started to bleed because of the pressure inside the mask caused by not having the air flow regulated just right.
But, the two decided to go on into the Little Devil anyway and finish the dive they had intended.
I felt so awkward at that hole, said Cheek as he looked back on the trip Friday.
The hole was the entrance to the cave they were planning to explore. Cheek said the entrance was 25 feet below the surface of the water and it is so small of an area that only one person can really go through it at a time. Cherry made the first entrance into the hole with Cheek above him snapping photos of his attempt.
The two made the dive, didnt see anything out of the ordinary, took a total of 17 pictures and returned home, satisfied with their trip.
Then Cheek gave the new underwater camera he had purchased to his wife, Kristen, to download the first photos he had ever taken on the camera to the computer. Kristen was looking at the photos as her husband told about the trip and how tight the entrance to the cave was. She saw what looked like a third man in the picture and asked her husband, If the entrance was so small then who is that man?
Cheek said for the first time he really looked at the photo and realized that she was right. He could see the outline of what looked like the bone structure or skeleton of a man wearing blue goggles and red shorts in the photo. There was only one problem there was no such person under water with them.
Honestly I just got chills, said Cheek after looking at the picture. I knew what I didnt see and here it is on my screen. ....
Go back to photoshop, reverse the image and adjust the curves and you’ll see a normal looking dude with sunglasses and a winter coat. Either the dude has a backpack on or a fancy design on his coat.
I think someone is playing a ‘ghost story’ game here, utilizing photoshop to get the negative image in the background.
"Cave diving is considered one of the most dangerous sports in the world. Since 1960, more than 431 divers have died in North American cave systems, according to the Web site for the National Speleological Society Cave Diving Section."
HA!
You need to get Looter Guy in there, too.
It’s only a matter of time. Eventually Monk will have the looter guy in there as well as “Rage Boy”. I think the original photo was one of those cocoon dudes, but no sweat, theys good people. :)
This is soooo eerie. It's sending chills up my spine!
Tourist Guy doesn’t spook me nearly as much as Looter Guy.
Can you imagine... being doomed to roam the bottom of the sea forever, carrying a bucketload of ghostly Heineken?
It's the legend of the foaming dutchmen....
Kafka having a conversation with a bedbug.
Some of us have no choice. Alternatives to dialup are not available in my rural area unless I want to pay an exorbitant equipment fee, which I can't justify for home use. Any suggestions?
Carolyn
That’s funny as heck! LOL!
Guardian angel?
The human mind is adept at seeing faces where there are none, and human figures where there are none. There have been thousands of “Virgin Mary” faces on orange peels and shower mold. The man in the moon and the face on mars come to mind.
Mask wheeze? Methinks the reporter's trying to remember the phrase "mask squeeze".
Dude, that is too freakin’ funny.
That’s pretty good - how’d you do that?
Tourist Guy! I love it.
20 fathoms or so notwithstanding, it's still the French Quarter!
