SUJATPUR, Bangladesh (Map, News) - Everyone knew it was out there somewhere, an invisible line that cut through a cow pasture and, at least in theory, divided one nation from another. But no one saw it as a border - it was just a lumpy field of grass, uneven from the hooves of generations of cattle, and villagers crossed back and forth without even thinking about it. Today, no one can ignore the line.
In a construction project that will eventually reach across 2,050 miles, hundreds of rivers and long stretches of forests and fields, India has been quietly sealing itself off from Bangladesh, its much poorer neighbor. Sections totaling about 1,550 miles have been built the past seven years.
In Sujatpur, a poor farming village, the frontier is now defined by two rows of 10-foot-high barbed wire barriers, the posts studded with ugly spikes the size of a toddler's fingers. A smaller fence, and miles of barbed wire coils, fill the space in between. The expanse of steel, set into concrete, spills off toward the horizon in both directions.
"Before, it was like we were one country," said Mohammed Iqbal, a Bangladeshi farmer walking near the border on a windy afternoon. "I used to go over there just to pass the time."

And as additional insult, now the next step should be to round up all the illegal B’deshi Mozlems and push them back thru’ the B’deshi border. Pakistan was created for these people out of Hindu lands, why are these @ssh0les comming back to India?
We can and should however allow only the Hindus to come inside.
Maybe we should outsource the labor to India. :-)
The ancient Chinese built Great Wall is one of the existing megastructures and the world’s longest human-made structure, stretching over approximately 4,000 miles from Shanhai Pass in the east to Lop Nur in the west, along an arc that roughly delineates the southern edge of Inner Mongolia. It is also the largest human-made structure ever built in terms of surface area and mass. This was started in 500 BC with no earth moving equipment.
Yes it can be done...
Feh!
Or have the Mexicans build it....
They're richer than us?
I agree. The motivation for this must be the rise of Muslim extremism in Bangladesh. Also, as India has been slowly reforming its economy, growth has accelerated, where Bangladesh seems mired in state control and corruption, and so is stagnating.
You're half right.
Just look at Islam's bloody borders. Apparently, no one can get along with them. Either it's Islam, or it's everybody else.
OK, now you're just talking plain crazy, FRiend!
Just echoing the line of our pro-invasion-by-Mexico folks.
Actually Nepal is being fenced too.. too many commie maoists out there..
