Serb Jailed Over Ethnic Cleansing

THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) -- The Yugoslav war crimes tribunal convicted a wartime leader of Croatia's rebel Serbs of murder, torture and persecution Tuesday and sentenced him to 35 years in prison for a brutal ethnic cleansing campaign of non-Serbs in Croatia.

Judges said Milan Martic, 52, was responsible for hundreds of murders from 1991 when Serbs in the Krajina region of northeastern Croatia rebelled and set up a breakaway ministate until 1995 when Croatian forces recaptured the area. He also was convicted of ordering two days of indiscriminate cluster bomb shelling of the Croatian capital, Zagreb, in May 1995 that killed at least seven civilians and injured more than 200.

Most of the crimes were "committed against elderly people, persons held in detention and civilians. The special vulnerability of these victims adds to the gravity of the crimes," said presiding judge Bakone Moloto. Martic stood still and showed no emotion as Moloto read out the verdict and his sentence.

The three-judge U.N. panel said Martic was deeply involved in a criminal plot with other Serb leaders including Slobodan Milosevic, Gen. Ratko Mladic and Radovan Karadzic to carve out an ethnically pure "greater Serbia" as Yugoslavia crumbled that would include about one third of Croatia. "It is clear that Milan Martic endorsed the goal of creating a unified Serb state," said Moloto.

You know how some people here like to extrapolate anything negative about some Balkan's actions to cover the entire country?

e.g. "some of the Fort Dix planners were Albanian .... therefore all Albanians are terrorists"

So - will we be seeing them do the same treatment in this case? -

"this is so typical of those Serbs, they're all sympathetic to the mass murders"

Well???

Yo Serbian apologists, spin this.

Here some well-worn chestnuts to help you get going:

“it’s all lies and propaganda by the West to make Serbia look bad”

“yes, but it’s no big deal, because there was violence on both sides”

Dear Albanian Islamofascist,
Propper courts are jailing propper war criminals, cangaroo courts are worthless, like this one is.

Never, ever try to eaqualise Islamofascist expansion/agression like Kosovo Albo-maniacs are making with anything else.

Nah. They’ll just reject the verdict out of hand. “The UN is once again bending over for the Muslims by persecuting innocent Christians.” Watch for it. It’s not about the Balkans — it’s about a simplistic world-view in which, no matter what the conflict, no matter what the facts, the Muslims always wear the black hats.

And just to toss in a usage gripe, Martic wasn’t jailed today. Presumably, he was in jail while he stood trial. after his sentencing, he was imprisoned.

There’s nothing to spin. I presume the so called ‘Serb apologists’ realize that what some people did during the Balkan wars was very wrong and that they are justly paying for it now.

But that doesn’t mean that it’s all of a sudden justified to take away a chunk of Serbian land and hand it over to a tribal muslim culture to use as a staging area for their greater Albania project.

My philosophy is simple.
If Serb commitet warcrime, Ill be first to put bullet in back of his head.
If Albanian Islamofascists are trying to take my land, Ill be first to put bullet in their forheads.

In 1999 Britain took in 25000 Albanian refugees from Kosovo.
They repaid us by pimping girls as young as 12, flooding our cities with heroin, and forming vicious street gangs.

They are totally different from the rest of the Balkans and their language is not related to any other. If they are Albanian isnt there a country called Albania where they should go ?
Kosovo is like Canterbury to the English, or Virginia to Americans, where their culture began.

The Serbians are Christian, pro Western and were on our side in World War 2. The Croatians were called Ustase, and did things that even sickened the Wehrmacht.

So if the Serbs clear their land of Nazi Croats and Albanian bandits, I don’t call it war crimes - I call it pest control.

If Croats and Albanians use a euphemism like “pest control” too, who’s right?

Well remember, the Serbs were on the Allies side in World War 2 :-

The Croatians formed the black-shirted units called Ustase (sp?) who slaughtered Jews, gipsies, and Serb Civilians.....

The Bosnian Moslems formed an SS unit named Hanschar.....

The Albanians formed a militia linked to Mussolini’s forces that carried out “sonderbehandlung” operations in Western Serbia .........

War, particularly a civil war must be terrifying for the populations involved, BUT, having seen alternative news sources concerning this part of Europe, I cannot help feeling uneasy at the maistream media, not to mention Britain and the US, effectively taking sides in what should have been a sovereign nation’s internal dispute.

For example how would you fell if California (or some Californians) decided to break away from the US ? Then a few months later Massachusetts wants to leave. Britain and Germany threaten Washington first with sanctions, then with military action based on Californian and Massachutian organised crime gangs’ sob stories to the BBC and the Daily Mirror. Then the RAF bombs Washington, hitting not military targets but residential areas, farmland, etc killing office workers, agricultural people and livestock. Commander in Chief of Her Majesties Armed forces then orders a missile strike on CBS News studio in New York, as punishment for not broadcasting a more pro British/Euro slant on events.

Afterwards infantry from the Queens Own Yorkshire Light Infantry enter SouthCentral LA, greeted warmly by Crips, Bloods and MS13 members of the CLA Californian Liberation Army offering flowers and underaged girls.
Finally, the British Prime Minister offers the shrunked ,divided, penniless USA massive aid programs and rebuilding of the bombed out Washington, but only if USA hands over the dictator George Bush and General Tommy Franks.

Hummm I think this has happened somewhere before.
