I would appreciate being told what if someone is paid to shill for a candidate. Then I know they have an agenda and I can take their comments with or without a grain of salt.

I understand you feeling that way.

And I’m a curious person, I’d like know who I’m talking to online.

But implicit in the word “shill” is the assumption that the person is akin to confidence artist.

But its not just ordinary schmucks like me who who disclose their employer or job details - particularly on political sites there are also people “in the business” who want to hang out and talk politics without disclosing their personal finances.

Since hopefully everyone here respects Duncan Duane Hunter, I’ll use him as an example.

Before he was running for congress he was already on Freep advocating his father’s campaign. Suppose it turned out he had a paying job with his father’s campaign. Would that invalidate his position here at Freep? Not a bit to me.

Other than for my curiosity I don’t need to know what everybody’s job and finances are like here.

The exception to that is if someone makes claims based on their expertise - then its nice to know what their qualifications are.
