We’ll see tomorrow but my guess is that the state wants them to plead to lesser charges like disorderly conduct or some such.

I would like very much for all charges to simply be dropped but have you ever seen a Special Prosecutor drop all charges in a case of this magnitude.....or the magnitude that it became?

The families have been saying for one year “no plea deals”. They won’t change that now because they hold all the cards.

Why would anybody muck four aces? The only way the players lose at trial is if the prosecutor can figure out a way to make a 2-4-5-6-7 into a Royal Flush in front of a jury.

They are not copping a plea. You don’t cop a plea when you are winning and your station in life demands that you are vindicated.

These are not working class poor kids whose valuable to society work as a carpenter etc will not be affected by copping a plea. Copping ANY plea in this case would greatly harm the defendants’ lives. This is a fundamental principle of being a prosecutor. You don’t go after guys like this without solid evidence because they can and will fight you the whole way.

why isnt the woman who field a false police report under arrest?

Let's see:

1. Mangum is a member of a group that votes Dim in a high percentage.

2. The Governor of NC is a Dim.

3. The AG of NC is a Dim.

4. Most if not all Durham office holders are Dims.

5. The victims of the hoax are members of groups that less reliably vote Dim.

Don’t know if this was already mentioned, but Greta was on Fox earlier and said that she heard there is going to be an announcement tomorrow related to the case.

Duke Decision Could Be Announced Wednesday
Three Lacrosse Players Initially Accused of Rape Over a Year Ago
By JIM AVILA and LARA SETRAKIAN
ABC News Law and Justice Unit
April 10, 2007 — - The North Carolina Attorney General’s office has finished its interviews and could announce a decision on whether to drop all charges against the three former Duke students as early as tomorrow in a Raleigh news conference, ABC news has learned.

The three lacrosse players were initially accused of raping an exotic dancer just over a year ago.

The state Attorney General took over the case in January, after Durham prosecutor Mike Nifong recused himself under pressure, claiming a conflict of interest because the State Bar Association charged him with misconduct in the case.

Two respected assistant attorneys general, James Coman and Mary D. Winstead, took over the case and re-interviewed many, if not all the witnesses in the case before the decision, which is expected to be announced as soon as tomorrow.

The case against Colin Finnety, Reade Seligmann and David Evans, the three Duke lacrosse players, has been heavily criticized.

Seligmann produced a credible alibi, and the accusing witness changed her story about what happened on March 13, 2006 several times.

Her back-and-forth testimony led to the dismissal of the rape charge in December of last year. But the young men remain charged with first-degree kidnapping and first-degree sexual offense.

I hope it is true Howlin.

This has been a long time coming if today’s information is correct regarding tomorrow. I’ll go ahead and give some credit to those of us on this board and other boards who refused to let this travesty of justice be railroaded through the system. Hours posting, positing, and posturing finally made the MSM pay some attention to this farce. It seems much longer than a year to me. Imagine how the players’ families must feel.

The 88 professors may have serious libel problems. It must be wonderful to be so #$%^& smug and knowledgeable that you make defamatory statements and be so convinced you’re right.

Well profs, you were wrong. Very wrong. And now you can’t hide behind the First Amendment or even Sullivan v. New York Times (you see, profs - the kids were NOT public figures to begin with - Nifong “made” them into public figures and you defamed them - WITH malice).

1st Amendment does not protect libel or slander. Well, well, well.

And I loves me that mom.

My son got into some trouble. I went to court with him, I counseled him, but I at NO time told him he could try to get out of it. He did the wrong thing, and he wasn’t going to waste the money of the county taxpayers trying to get out of it. He was honest and took his lumps and he’s doing fine.

However, if I had thought for five minutes some overzealous prosecutor was trying to make an example of my kid, I hope I’d have the well this fine Duke LAX mom has - you don’t $%^&* with our kids, not now, not ever!

They are still referring to the accuser as an exotic dancer! I think Don Imus knows what to call her!
