The Pentagon is drawing up a contingency plan to bomb Iran that could be implemented within 24 hours. George W. Bush has ordered a special planning group, established in the offices of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, to create a bombing strategy which could be set in motion immediately upon his orders. Seymour Hersh, the investigative journalist, wrote in the New Yorker that the planning group has also been asked to identify targets in Iran that may be involved in supplying or aiding militants in Iraq. Mr Hersh cites a former senior intelligence official who says the current contingency plans allow for an attack order this spring...

I’m sure the Pentagon is way ahead of that. Its a matter of pulling the desired plan out of the files and implementing it.

Well, duh. If military action becomes necessary, do we want to sit around for a few weeks while the plan is drafted then?

Hersch is a traitor. Besides, these plans had better already be on the shelf. Seymour is either just guessing (heck, even I could have predicted there’d be contingency planning) or there is a high-level leak that revealed a readiness review or something done while the Brits were hostages. The latter is most troubling.

My wife used to work in the Marine Corps Command Center, and they already have a plan ...for EVERYTING...no need to draw up new ones. They exist so we can be prepared...it’s nothing new....

Such planning has likely been done for years. The MSM is salivating at the prospect of Bush bombing Iran so the impeachment proceedings can go into high gear.
Unless Iran were to launch a nuclear missile at Israel or other targets in the Middle East or Europe there will be no bombing of Iran. If that were to happen, Bush will be immediately impeached by the Democrats in Congress and the US would be plunged into chaos.

I thought this story had reached the end of the journalist’s food chain with Times of India, but Sunday Telegraph is making a bid for the bottom.

I’d be willing to bet the Pentagon has plans for invading Britain too, if they thought it could possibly be necessary.

Regular as clockwork, Sy and Ritter have been *predicting* this for the past three years. They always seem to pick April—June as the designated dates.
Of course we have contingency plans for everything.

And discussing it in the media the entire time.

The Pentagon is drawing up a contingency I note that they left the word "contingency" out of the headline just to make it more inflammatory.
