ANSWER's Castro Connection
Mr. Smash Goes to Washington ^ | 3/21/2007 | SMASH

The source of funding for many of these radical parties – whose national membership is pitifully small – is somewhat of a mystery. Do they get money from foreign governments? It’s almost impossible to say for certain. But one can take an educated guess, based on which dictator’s propaganda is most prominently displayed.

This very expensive-looking multi-color banner urges the release of the “Cuban Five.” These men are members of Fidel Castro’s “Wasp” spy network, who were arrested in 1999 and convicted of 26 criminal counts including the use of false identification, espionage and conspiracy to commit murder.

Realistically, nobody in America gives a damn about five convicted Cuban spies rotting away in prison. Yet support for the “Cuban Five” is a prominent part of every major ANSWER rally. Indeed, the web site for the Party of Socialism and Liberation (for which ANSWER is a front group), features an abundance of articles expressing support and admiration for the Castro regime.

Still wondering where groups like ANSWER get their funding? I’m not.

"Do they get money from foreign governments?"

Without a doubt.

The "Peace" Movement's Korean Connection
By Michael Tremoglie
FrontPageMagazine.com | January 30, 2003

The Workers World Party staged anti-American rallies in Washington, D.C. and San Francisco, January 18th. In fact, the Stalinist WWP has organized all the major rallies demanding "peace" on tyrants’ terms.

The organizers and speakers at this communist-sponsored, anti-American rally were the same cast of characters, saying the same hateful things that they did at last October’s anti-American rally in Washington, D.C.

That it was an anti-American rally was self-evident because one of the speakers said that in Korea anti-war rallies are known as "f-cking America rallies." The remark received the loudest cheers of any remarks made during the event.

The speaker who uttered this invective was Yoomi Choong of the Korea Truth Commission (KTC). Ms.Choong is the Deputy Secretary General of the KTC, which is affiliated with the International Action Center (IAC), which is affiliated with International ANSWER. All of these groups are affiliated with the Workers World Party (WWP). The WWP is a staunch advocate of Kim Jong Il.

Brian Becker was a principal organizer of the anti-American rally. Becker is a Director of ANSWER, and the IAC. He is a member of the Secretariat of the WWP of the United States as well. Both Becker and Choong availed themselves of the opportunity to spew their venom during the rally. Our boy in Pyongyang, Brian Becker, called the President a liar. Becker’s wife introduced a new group: Doctors and Nurses Against the War. If you listen to the speakers that Becker arranged, America is an imperialistic nation. Their main theme was that this was all about oil-a theory developed by the WWP some years ago.

Becker is very involved with North Korea. He denounced the U.S. last March during a press interview held in Pyongyang before his departure from North Korea. Becker accused the United States of systematically, maliciously, and intentionally murdering Korean civilians in a campaign of genocide. Of course, one would have to wonder why it is that a lot of South Koreans have immigrated to the United States if we were responsible for killing all those innocent Koreans. You would think they would be going to North Korea instead.

The IAC established a Korean War Crimes Tribunal at the Riverside Church in New York City. The Riverside Church is active in anti-American campaigns. Incidentally, this tribunal was endorsed by Al-Awda, "the Palestinian Right to Return Coalition."

Among Becker’s board memberships, association memberships, and executive activities is his chairmanship of the U.S. Troops out of Korea Committee. Last March, after a meeting in Paris, Becker was elected vice-chairman of the Committee of the International Liaison for Reunification and Peace in Korea (CILRECO). This is quite an impressive resume.

At that meeting, according to one source, were "officials of the CILRECO and representatives of political parties and organizations for friendship and solidarity with the Korean people in different countries and international organizations. The meeting briefed its attendants on the situation now prevailing on the Korean peninsula before reviewing last year's work and discussing the task of the CILRECO."

According to this source, "the meeting developed an action plan that they would implement that included publicizing the attempts of Kim Jong Il to unify Korea, and a public relations campaign designed to have the U.S. withdraw troops from Korea. The committee would "escalate its activities condemning the U.S. hard-line policy" intended to stifle the DPRK and its arms buildup in South Korea, and South Korea's "theory of principal enemy", "Security Law" and cooperation with outsiders, etc.; and conduct vigorous solidarity activities to remove the concrete wall, a symbol of division. A letter to Kim Jong Il was adopted at the meeting."

International ANSWER/IAC/WWP is a significant participant to promote the cause of Kim Jung Il and North Korea. Becker’s executive status with CILRECO and the U.S. Troops out of Korea Committee, and their sponsorship of the Korea Truth Commission ensure that they will be attempting to make US policies favor North Korea.

Indeed the WWP are activists for two of the three members of the axis of evil. The rallies they organized are designed to influence American foreign policy favorably for their foreign dictator benefactors.

Recently, Alan Colmes of the Fox News Channel, characterized the rally as nothing more than a group of concerned citizens staging an anti-war rally. According to Colmes, any mention that the event was organized by or included the participation of communists is redbaiting. A sentiment that was shared by some National Public Radio commentators January 20. Why it is redbaiting to state the truth about the rally’s organizers-International ANSWER-is not quite comprehensible and perhaps requires a definition of the term.

However, despite the protestations of Mr. Colmes, NPR commentators and the World Socialist Web Site (columnist Michael Kelly redbaits the Workers World Party) International ANSWER is merely a proxy group for the Workers World Party. Even the New York Times-certainly no red-baiter- reported that both marches were sponsored by International Answer- albeit their comment was more of a panegyric.

The New York Times and Alan Colmes do not consider it newsworthy to mention that International ANSWER is affiliated with a communist organization dedicated to destroying America. Nor do they consider it newsworthy to mention the hatred of the president, and American culture in general, which was a staple of the rally.

It is unfortunate that many principled war protesters join with these people who have an axe to grind and who are not concerned about peace. Yet, it is their own fault. They should realize with whom they are allying themselves. Then again, maybe they know.

The Party of Socialism and Liberation (PSL) split from the WWP in 2004, taking ANSWER with them. If WWP is beholden to North Korea, PSL is even more closely tied to Cuba.
