Black coaches? Are you sure? Why hasn't the press reported this?

OK, maybe sarcasm should be left to the professionals, but why does the media think that any fan cares about the ethnicity of a favorite team's coach?

What did Rush say?

Well, this morning sports show was droning on and on and on about the coaches. Nary a word about anything else.

Just because I prefer higher scoring games, it does not make me a 'fake fan'.

If I wanted to see a bunch of guys kick a ball back and forth and only score a couple times, I'd watch soccer.

I referring to the Rush broohaha when he said that the media has an interest in seeing black quarterbacks succeed... He was subsequently fired by ESPN for making 'racist remarks'. The media then proceeded to take an intense interest in reporting about black quarterbacks (and coaches) succeeding.

I think new england is the last team to whine about penalties given all the ones that got tossed on the chargers last week.

Heck, I have a Raider fan brother-in-law who is still bitter over the Tuck Game!

I only wish one of those black coaches had asked a reporter how it felt to have to ask a stupid question.

Thankfully, and sadly, both are too classy for that. Right after the game, "those" questions were immediately thrown at Dungy, and he said, "I don't want to get into those issues right now."

Trivia: how many players on the Pats 2001 Super Bowl winning team are still on the team? Answer: 3. Brady, Brown and Bruschi.

And don't forget the coaches that went elsewhere, as well.

I was stunned when the local Colts coverage said that only 18 players (of 45?) remained from the last playoff loss to the Pats, which took place on Jan 16, 2005... only 2 years and 5 days before this game! It took me a while to realize that we really have lost several big names, not just back-ups... Edgerrin James, Mike Peterson, Marcus Pollard, Mike Venderjagt, Brandon Stokeley (IR), etc.

Did you see the way Bellichick just walked through Manning, without even glancing at him? He did the same thing after last week's victory, and after the loss to the Jets. He clearly is not a gracious loser, nor is he gracious in defeating opponents in huge games.

I just wish they didn't have a two-week gap until the Super Bowl. By the end of the first week, the hype starts to wear thin, and I'm thinking it's time to play ball.

"Pats were due for some bad calls against them."

I was surprised the announcers didn't make a bigger deal out of the no-call on what looked like pass interference in the end zone, late in the game, when the Pats had to settle for a field goal. I thought the receiver was mugged, and the announcers hardly said a thing. (And, no, I'm not a Pats fan.)

My guess is they'll get sick of the constant blather about their color.

Wrong. As you can see, according to Dungy, it's not the content of their character but the color of their skin that's important.

"It means a lot," Dungy said. "I'm very proud to be representing African-Americans. I'm very proud of Lovie."

Of course there should be only one game. Anything else is impractical.

I simply think SD was the best team and they screwed up their chance.

So many games come down to one or two plays that you make or don't make, or the other team makes or doesn't make. Last week, the Bears made one more play than the Seahawks. Yesterday, the Colts made one more play than the Patriots.

Hmm. That is a bit ungracious, given my posting.

Is it important to you to think they choked? Seems to be. You sound like you have a lot emotionally invested in the football game. If you can't keep it in perspective, that isn't a good thing for you.

I thought it was a very good game, even though my team lost.

I don't know how well you understand football, or if you have ever even played the game, but you do know that it is the job of the captain on the field (whoever that is) to directly appeal to the referees in any situation where he feels that he must do so. I did not see him whine to the refs after every single play, I think you are exaggerating.

I did not think the receivers looked like "deer in headlights", although Caldwell clearly blew his chances. The other receivers seemed to do pretty well. Again, you exaggerate.

As a Patriots fan, I feel pretty comfortable in giving credit to Indianapolis for a high level of play, and pretty good coaching as well. I am disappointed that the Patriots gave up that kind of lead, but they did indeed have their chances to win the game. But that is football. That is why players play the game and no matter all the talking, it must be done on the field.

You sound like you have a lot of built up bitterness inside you, about what I don't know. The Colts have a fine history, great teams and two of the finest quarterbacks ever to play the game as members of the team. Don't be ungracious or take for granted what you have, because there are a lot of teams out there whose fans have never had a fraction of what you (or I) have had as fans.

The footage I saw showed them looking at each other, and then Peyton Manning patting Belichick in the stomach. Fine with me.

What should they do . . . strip off their shirts and make out?

Personally I think the Pats and Colts are two of the classiest organizations in pro sports

Well the Colts are certainly among the best at extorting public money, with a guaranteed profitability clause and a new $700 million dollar taxpayer funded stadium on the way.
