Terri's Story
Terri Schindler Schiavo Foundation ^ | December 3,2006 | Schindler Foundation

Posted on 12/03/2006 3:03:26 AM PST by 8mmMauser

Theresa Marie Schindler was born to Robert and Mary Schindler on December 3, 1963. She was the first of three children the Schindlers would have.

Terri was a shy, but comical, child who had an affinity for music, animals and the arts. She kept a small circle of friends and was dear to schoolmates, neighboring families and her own extended family.

Following high school, Terri came into her own. She developed a knack for sketching and doodling. She enjoyed outings with her friends. She was an adoptive mother to the family’s dog, Bucky.

Terri attended Catholic School while growing up and remained close to her faith throughout her life.

In 1983, Terri met Michael Schiavo at Bucks County Community College and the two began dating. He was the first romantic interest Terri had.

The couple was engaged within a few months and married a year later at Terri’s church in Southampton, Pa. She was 21.

In 1986, Terri and Michael relocated to Pinellas County, Florida and her parents followed three months later.

In 1990, at the age of 26, Terri suffered a mysterious cardio-respiratory arrest for which no cause has ever been determined. She was diagnosed with hypoxic encephalopathy – neurological injury caused by lack of oxygen to the brain. Terri was placed on a ventilator, but was soon able to breathe on her own and maintain vital function. She remained in a severely compromised neurological state and was provided a PEG tube to ensure the safe delivery of nourishment and hydration.

On March 31, 2005, Terri Schindler Schiavo died of marked dehydration following more than 13 days without nutrition or hydration under the order of Circuit Court Judge, George W. Greer of the Pinellas-Pasco’s Sixth Judicial Court. Terri was 41.

Great story, T'wit, worth a repeat ping...

Here it is, the thread by nuconvert.

Patrick Henry Hughes was born without eyes and can't straighten his arms or legs. And yet, he will play trumpet with the 220-member Cardinal marching band while his father pushes his wheelchair around the field, jogging, spinning and maneuvering the chair in tricky formations. The Louisville freshman and his dad have attended every practice since last summer and performed at every game this season.

Disabled trumpeter, dad steal the show

Scott Thomas Update...

It is a new year for Scott Thomas. Here is some heartening news about their Christmas and this dawning New Year.

Great news from the visitation hearing! The judge awarded Scott twice weekly unsupervised visitation with his son. The visitations will be limited to one hour to start, but the judge assured Pamela that the one hour limit is only temporary. Scott will have time with Logan on Mondays and Thursdays, starting with Christmas Day! What an awesome Christmas present! Thank you for your prayers.

It wouldn't be appropriate to that thread, but is germane here, to contemplate how demon-ridden Michael Schiavo is after taking the evil way out. He's a wreck, always trying to tell anyone who'll listen, and always at the top of his voice, that Terri wanted him to kill her.

Mr. Hughes rose to the challenges of raising his disabled son, and is blessed. Schiavo is just the opposite -- lazy, self-obsessed, greedy. He not only broke his oaths to God and shirked every duty to his wife, he killed her to be free of his "burden" and to steal her estate. There will be no happiness for him, ever. No satisfaction with life. No sense of accomplishment. His worldly goods are stolen. The one treasure in his life, he murdered. The demons will be with him day and night... unto eternity.

For those new to the plight of Scott, his story can be found on the homepage of the link above and the one here, a chilling account of how someone tried to follow the horrifying footsteps of those bent on harming Terri.

Here is a part of that story:

........At this moment, she is still seeking guardianship, and has made clear that she still plans on taking him to hospice. I am convinced her ultimate goal is to remove his nutrition, so that he will starve to death.

Why do I believe this? Because she said so in one of her court documents. She said that she wanted custody so that she could go to court to end Scott’s life. Her petition to the Court said, “...the Court may be called upon to approve the withdrawal of life support…”

However, when she wrote this, my son was not on life support! He was beginning his recovery. The only thing this could possibly mean is to remove his food and water. That is why I am fighting to keep guardianship of him. I am fighting for my son’s life.........

As Terri emerges as a symbol of innocence wronged, and as the son of Mr Hughes emerges as a symbol of hope, Mikey sinks as a symbol of evil intent and the wages of sin.

With his demons circling around him as the vultures circled around the hospice while Terri lay suffering, his image is worthy of a new creation of a modern Shakespeare. What a variety of apparitions he had and still entertains, some quite human, some just dark shadows.

It is wonderful for us all to be NOT Mikey. We have a New Year with a form of hope he cannot yet,if ever, understand.

Yeah, depressing. This Liza person is from Hell, but Michael Schiavo paved the way for her. First she tried to kill Scott with a blow of some sort to the head. When that didn't work she went to court to try to murder him "legally." Do we see a familiar pattern here?

Some have been tempted to use Mikey's crafting as a template, but it doesn't do much good under the spotlight so long as we and others keep it shining. Haleigh's tormenters found that to be the case too. The White Rose has lit them up.

Works great on chasing cockroaches, too.

>> It is wonderful for us all to be NOT Mikey. We have a New Year with a form of hope he cannot yet,if ever, understand.

He is doomed at the least to a lifetime of regret. But he can find redemption, if he will repent and confess. His sins can be forgiven, even by men, IF he lets go of evil. I doubt that he realizes it or believes it, though. He has so much to hide, he will probably go on struggling vainly to justify it instead of being saved.

"Where there is life, there is hope..."

OTOH I just gotta wonder if the same concerns of suffering families apply to those of innocents euthanized.

In the contentious death penalty debate, they are a group that often goes overlooked. Family members of the condemned haven't committed the crimes that landed their loved ones on death row. But they often feel punished by a society that sometimes shuns them and by a grief that few understand.

Their unique experiences are detailed in the report "Creating More Victims: How Executions Hurt the Families Left Behind," by Murder Victims' Families for Human Rights. The anti-death penalty organization in Cambridge, Mass., is made up of families of murder victims and families of the executed.

Families of the condemned feel punished, too

This new thread just in. Thanks to The Sarce for pinging to the thread by shrinkermd. Making it easy for the "choice" enthusiasts...

There's a big change coming for pregnant women: Down syndrome testing no longer hinges on whether they're older or younger than 35. This week, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists begins recommending that every pregnant woman, regardless of age, be offered a choice of tests for this common birth defect.

The main reason: Tests far less invasive than the long-used amniocentesis are now widely available, some that can tell in the first trimester the risk of a fetus having Down syndrome or other chromosomal defects.

When I was expecting my second, I had the blood test that screens for a bunch of genetic issues. My test came back elevated. I refused all other testing because it wouldn't have changed my decision. I already loved this baby and would never have killed it. The only reason I agreed to the first test was simply to know so we could be prepared for anything that might come our way.

Unfortunately, these tests will be used to kill "inferior" children because they do not measure up.

I find it really sad that science can. is and will be used for this kind of evil.

Referring to Saddam's execution, a lawyer close to me muttered "barbaric" in an e-mail. I haven't yet replied, but it seems to me if that that is precisely why people hate lawyers. If Saddam had escaped justice, all of his victims' families and everyone else who treasures justice would have been outraged -- and would have blamed America's fancy-pants notions of due process and justice for sale if you have a fancy lawyer. Their grasp of the facts may be wobbly but the feelings are only too valid -- Saddam never showed his victims any mercy but he himself would have escaped justice due to decadent western values. And they are right.

When Muslims see us as degenerate, they are looking at the cancer of liberalism.

Unfortunately, I'd say you are 100% accurate on that one.

God bless you, 8mmMauser, for an AMAZING post! May I borrow it to share with friends of mine who, like me, would give a big AMEN to your words? They give me chills.

Also, thank you for the quote from Sophie Scholl. I recently saw the film "Sophie Scholl: The Final Days" and marvel at this incredible story.

" Forced euthanasia is nothing new, but widespread awareness of it is new. That awareness was your gift to us. Our gift to you is what we do with it. We continue to save lives, in your honor."

Never more true.....

Warm thanks, rosalita, and a wonderful New Year to you.

I really wish I could take credit for those words, but would be unable to come up with a tribute so well rendered as that from BykrBayb. It is she who gets the credit. She also gets the credit for bringing the story of Sophie Scholl back to the scene with the symbol, The White Rose, which we frequently use for Terri.

"We will not be silent. We are your bad conscience. The White Rose will give you no rest."

Well, thank you for all the interesting and informative points. I'm very impressed with this thread, and the fact that there are so many who hold life so dear in the face of the times we are living in. Please keep up the good work of getting the word out, and know that it is making a difference and having an impact. God bless you!

The slogan appeared at the bottom of leaflet #4 distributed by the White Rose group. It became their motto, and remains as expressive as ever. I'm not sure who wrote it, Hans Scholl, perhaps; but in any case, here it is in original German:

"Wir schweigen nicht, wir sind Euer böses Gewissen; die Weiße Rose läßt Euch keine Ruhe!"

Fantastic movie, wasn't it? BykrBayb and I both got to see it and had the identical experience -- namely, the whole audience just sat stunned in their seats at the end. Nobody moved. The credits -- in German -- rolled on to the last name and really meant nothing to the American audience. But nobody was willing to stir. Everybody knew they had experienced the extraordinary. They sat silent and transfixed.
