I'm no ludditefar from itbut there are certain things about the near future that scare the britches off of me. Powerful technologies are becoming cheaper and easier to access; some dumbass dicking around in his garage could very well kill us all at some point down the road.
A drunk driver or cancer will get you long before something like this happens - hell, you could probably deal with more energy if you played around with old TVs.

The real promise of fusion is more energy out, than what is put in. When this kid (or anyone else) does this, then this thread will become of great interest.
