After last nights loss we don't need any resignation announced especially Rumsfeld. The troops love him.

Iraq is the main reason the GOP lost, along with their fear of fighting the media. Until Republicans realize that Iraq is not popular with most Americans, including Republicans we will continue to lose.

I disagree. People support the War in Iraq only if it's a REAL WAR and not a "Winning The Hearts and Minds" war like the current campaign.

Let's just say that if we got Zawahiri and Bush waited until the day after the election to announce it...

Stallone- you are EXACTLY correct- the GOP public relations was abysmal- simply horrible & as much as I hat4 seeing the dems in power- I think it - hopefully- will be a wake up call to the Republicans- althouygh I doubt it because they are so dim whitted when it comes to public relations- We shoulda been hammering home the positve news (and there was PLENTY of positive) but instead, we waited till election week then scrambled to get the message out- We deserved to lose to tell you the truth- I just hope the Reps have got it htrough their skulls America is a VERY fickle group and quickly forgets the positives and zero in on negatives UNLESS ytou counter with positives CONSTANTLY!

The death knell was delivered to Laz's brand new ping list, I'm afraid.

Not if this win turns out to be a Pyrrhic victory for the 'Rats....

Would you prefer to leave in the guy who masterminded a strategy aimed not at victory but at putting American troops at unnecessary risks in order to please the PC liberal media and Europeans?

Idiot.

Yep and look for the remaining GOP wimps left in congress to go belly up and become full blown liberals

It's good that RINOs such as DeWine and Chafee bit the dust.

OK...that sounds much better. Demoralizing the troops is what would happen with Rummy's resignation. I think after the loss last night..it'd hurt them badly.

If Rumsfeld resigns, statement should be as follows:

"We accept the resignation of this great public servant with regret. Mr. Rumsfeld selflessly did not want unfair and irrational investigations of him by the new Congress to distract the Executive branch at this important time in history. Godspeed."

Republicans lost because they took the pious wimp approach to politics. The GOP played politics by Marquess of Queensbury rules of civility, while the Democrats used guerrilla tactics.

If you substitute "war" for "politics", and "Muslims" for "Democrats", then you get a pretty good summation of our situation in Iraq.

The "war" [really, the "nation building exercise"] would have been over if Dubyah had turned Fallujah into glass & cinders after the four contractors were murdered in 2004.

Instead, Dubyah* decided to be a "Christian Gentleman" & play by [as you say] MofQ rules, and the result is that the "war" [really, the "nation building exercise"] stretches on for year after year after year.

*Oddly enough, in googling old stories about the murders of the contractors, I came across this CNN story, dated April 1, 2004:

U.S. Army: 'We will respond' to contractor killings
http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/meast/04/01/iraq.main/index.html
Unfortunately, the fact of the matter is that the US Army did NOT respond to the contractor murders [undoubtedly on orders - or the absence of orders - from Dubyah], and the result is that the Muslims were emboldened, the Muslim insurgency was born, and 2.5 years later, the GOP loses the House & the Senate.

From the "Hope It's Not True Dept."

====================================

"If I give the Dems Rummy's head, and bow down low to the Clintons, Rangel, Reid Pelosi, Conyers and the rest,
do you think they will let me keep mine?"

Sure it was a mis-step, but the base went nuts and it showed the first blood. The DEMS tore the wound wide open and the blood-letting has not stopped.
