Giddy Liberals Commentary by Aslan, 10/28/06, 11:55pm.
To retain Congress, the GOP needs the same conservative voters who carried the day in 2004 to hold their noses next month and pull the lever for Republicans one more time. The theory is that by holding their noses, stalwart conservatives can block out the stench of Republican weakness and duplicity, thereby avoiding a vastly fouler stench: the stink of Democrats in power, raising taxes, stopping judges, embracing terrorists and impeaching Bush.
Giddy liberals believe that enough conservatives will avoid the whole reeking mess on November 8th to relinquish control of Congress to the Democrats. Giddy liberals secretly amazed in their inner heart of hearts that a booming economy, the hugely important sitting of Roberts and Alito on the Supreme Court, plummeting gas prices, and effective domestic security are all meaningless have been crowing in the media that it is all over but for the fat ladys song. And, in a stroke of delicious irony, giddy liberals have ensured that the very real odor so distasteful to principled conservatives will go largely unnoticed on Election Day, allowing the Republicans to retain control of both houses of Congress...

I hope he's right about conservative turnout. I've already voted for George Allen. Polling places this week have been jammed for absentee voting in Arlington.
The other 99.9% of conservative voters won't need to...they understand the realities of politics.
The lesson being: don't gloat before the vote.
I really hope it happens just that way, victory snatched.
one thing i have noticed here for a long time. Dem voters from around here are never too big on mid terms. Since it isn't a prez race, they will not come out in droves. Guess this is why they have tried so hard to make this a race about Bush.
We also have to thank John Kerry for his own "turn out the vote" efforts. My truck now sports the new bumper sticker my son made for me: "Thank a Vet, Vote Republican"
Your son should turn a lot of those out.
You might be right. The college kids might just sit it out.
I did a quick scan of the title and my brain computed Liddy Liberals! As if!!!
I just have always been able to almost walk right in and vote in the mid terms. I think that Dems don't pay a lot of attention to their local candidates. A lot of them don't even know who they are. Its hard enough for a lot of them to even know who the VP candidate is in a Prez race. I think they still want to make this race about Bush because the Dems know this.
"...hold their noses..."

Oh please. Do you have to vote for Tom I will fight George Bushs policies in Washington Kean? I do.
Ill vote for him because I do understand the realities of politics, and Ill be holding my nose because he smells. Like ass.
Sure Demilibs. You guys go and vote on November 8th.
I rec'd a recorded message from NJ RTL this morning endorsing Kean.
And to you and yours as well Trooper.

I would be skeptical about who people say they are on the phone. The New Jersey Right to Life website endorses a third party candidate. And has this to say about Kean:
- Supports research that involves killing living embryonic human beings.
- Supports human cloning and the trafficking of baby body parts through the embryo, fetal, and newborn stages.
It's possible that some political strategery caused them to change their tactics and endorse Kean, but I'm doubtful.
