DOHA, Qatar (Reuters) - U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice cautioned Syria and Iran on Wednesday that they faced further isolation if they tried to scupper U.S.-led attempts to get a cease-fire between Lebanon and Israel.
Rice was speaking to reporters flying with her from Rome where U.S., Arab and European ministers agreed to work with the "utmost urgency" to get a cease-fire between Lebanon and Israel but disappointed Beirut and others by not demanding an immediate end to hostilities.
The top U.S. diplomat urged Iran and Syria not to "torpedo" any attempts to stop the fighting between Hizbollah guerrillas in southern Lebanon and Israeli forces in a two-week conflict that has killed more than 400 people in Lebanon and over 50 in Israel.
"This needs to be between Lebanon and Israel," Rice told reporters en route to Malaysia to meet Asian ministers..."
Well, where pretty boy Shep is standing, sounds like he may not last that long... oh, did I say that???
One question rarely asked (or answered) is why even keep such terrorist scumbags alive? Israel is consumed by the same excessive "humanitarian" impulse as all of the EU and now even much of the USA: the naive belief that there could possibly be anything wrong with executing such vile terrorists.
Immanuel Kant, hero to many liberals except for when he is too 18th century, once said that justice requires that the last murderer lying in any prison be executed -- not out of any consquentialist argument about deterrence, but because morally speaking murderers deserve to be executed. That is especially true of terrorist murderers.
True, true. The other day I heard the fearless Kofi whining about how it was getting too dangerous for UN personnel, hells bells, I thought they had already vamoosed!
Artillery hits incoming within 100 meters of UN stations - because Hezzie rockets were coming from within 100 meters of same UN stations. WTH is a Chinese observer there? Kofi "apparently" weaseling now.
Kofi trying to keep the attention off the Oil for Food case heating up in Sweden.
he doesn't bother me at all when he is just reporting the news.
Aww. God bless Gerry Ford and his family.
It's worse than that - the (now dead) Canadian Major who was in that UN post apparently emailed several times telling people back in Canada that the UN post was being used as cover by Hezbollah (why the UNIFIL guys weren't insisting they be allowed to depart such an outrageous situation, I don't know). Not only do the Hezzi-Nazis use civilians everywhere as human shields, but they also like to do the same with UNIFIL observers. And then the UN toad-bureaucrats and MSM pile on against Israel yet again, instead of placing the blame squarely where it belongs, on the terrorist scum.
Speaking of which...

And there's this from the UN's own press release:
http://www.un.org/Depts/dpko/missions/unifil/pr010.pdf
"It was also reported that Hezbollah fired from the vicinity of four UN positions at Alma ash Shab, Tibnin, Brashit, and At Tiri. All UNIFIL positions remain occupied and maintained by the troops."
All too typical hezzie action, they birddog the UN locations knowing that if Israel responds with firepower they'll get cwap from the rest of the insane world.
Godspeed Israel.
According to don-o; Sheep needs a nap...a long nap..redeploy?
Geez, what is the UN doing putting in a peacekeeping force that doesn't even have enough muscle to force Hezbollah away from their positions? The UN put these peacekeepers right in the middle of this battle and turned them into human shields for Hezbollah. It's time to pull all these UN troops out of Lebanon before more of them get killed.
ruh-roh.
