In-depth look its members, enemies and its threat to our national security

• MS-13 gang Officials believe MS-13 is one of the most dangerous gangs in the United States. MSNBC-TV's Rita Cosby takes an in-depth look at the members, their enemies, and why the battle against MS-13 is so critical to our security. MSNBC

Some of the most notorious and dangerous criminals in the United States are part of one gang. It's not the Bloods, it's not the Crips, but a gang called MS-13. 'Live and Direct' takes MSNBC into the streets to investgate how the gang is terrorizing neighborhoods and treating their friends and enemies with brutal, bloody force.

This gang has committed one of the most] horrific crime scenes ever witnessed by law enforcement, young men, women and children brutally murdered with machetes. These innocent victims were slaughtered and dismembered for no reason at the hand of MS-13.

La Mara Salvatrucha, more commonly known as the MS-13, are considered by the FBI to be the most dangerous gang in the U.S., leaving their mark from El Salvador to Honduras to Guatemala to New Mexico, and now on U.S. soil.

In the last decade, the United States has experienced a dramatic increase in the number and size of this transnational street gang, which has quickly became a nationwide problem.

More benefits of our OPEN border policy. This gang is in 6 nations and 33 of our states. How could the politicians could allow these harmless "immigrants' into our nation?

They're willing to kill people Americans are unwilling to kill, in ways Americans are unwilling to do.

Arrest them; chip them; deport them. If they are caught in our country a second time; life in prison.

Not good, MS-13 is not your typical garbage gang, they are already a growing presence in prisons.

If we deport them, do it somewhere as far the hell away from where ever it is they came from (chile? africa?), if they come back, execute them, or put them in supermax.

Life in prison hurts us more then it hurts them, they got to jail, get bigger, stronger, and more dangerious.

they are the preeminent gang by my way, alot of times cops turn a blind eye to them owing to the fact they lurk in the fringe neighborhoods.

Scares me that they are not afraid of the cops.

They are establishing themselves throughout Virginia and many other states. They are recruiting in the high schools in Maryland. One of their goals is to kill cops. Yet our government refuses to deport them even though they are readily identified.

Russian Mafia also is ultra violent and growing. Again, our government is taking no action.

Gangs will always be able to get people into the country. The problem is they're lost in the sea of illegals and that makes it very difficult to target them.

We should allow real legal immigration so honest people can come to this country, and that will allow the cops to focus in on the drug runners and thugs and enforce zero tolerance.

from El Salvador to Honduras to Guatemala to New Mexico, and now on U.S. soil.

Uhhh. I used to live there and I believe NM is US soil.

These guys aren't scared of anybody.

I've met a couple of them (and no, I am not friends with anybody in that gang).

They have the same kind of mentality as suicide bombers, and no fear of consequences, regardless of if they even comprehend those consequences or not.

FWIW, the guys I met told me that in their countries, they kill judges and prosecutors who "stir up trouble" against them, they did not understand why this isn't normal practise here.

" But who out there thinks in their minds and in their hearts to go out in their streets and give a gang member a hug or give one of these young people who need help?

COSBY: Yes, start at the root of the problem."

I don't think lack of hugs are the root of the problem.

There is a teenage girl, here in Houston, who is going on trial for killing a M13 gang member, during a gang war fight. They were fighting with guns, bats, and knives in a city park.

The trial should be interesting.

BTW, her attorney is saying she doesn't want bond and has her sitting in jail, because they fear someone from the M13 gang will try to kill her in retaliation.

Suits me, but this country doesn't have the will to do what's necessary.

Find an uninhabited island out in the middle of the Pacific or Atlantic Ocean. Drop them in there via parachute and forget about them. No supplies whatsoever.

Do this with repeat sex offenders as well.

Good point, I know RFK once deported a mobster who was italian to some country in central america (those crazy kennedys), I'm wondering if we could do it again.
