Limbaugh: I won't be 'framed' by U.S
WorldNetDaily ^ | 7/5/06 | Joe Kovacs

Posted on 07/05/2006 1:01:00 PM PDT by wagglebee

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Talk-show host Rush Limbaugh is canceling his international travel plans in the near future, saying he doesn't want to be "framed" by U.S. Customs officials after last week's incident when he was detained for more than three hours for possession of Viagra prescribed in his doctor's name.

"It takes one time, and I've got red flags up, and I'm not going to put myself in the position of being framed," Limbaugh said today on his national radio broadcast. "With all this partisanship that's out there, I'm just not going to make it easy for people to frame me."

Limbaugh says he has canceled a planned golf trip in Spain in August.

"I am not going to involve myself with United States Customs for the next year and a half until this so-called probationary period evaporates. I tell you the election cycles of '06 and '08, especially '08, I think it's going to be one of the most vicious and filthy of our lifetimes."

Limbaugh's "probationary period" stems from a previous, unrelated case of a probe into alleged "doctor shopping" for prescriptions for back-pain medication.

But the host is fuming over the way federal and local officials handled his arrival on a private plane last week at Palm Beach International Airport.

"There's an inbound list [of private passengers] and they know who's coming in that day. It's required by law. So, somebody in there knew I was coming in and from what I was told from people that were there during the time that I was there, mine was the only luggage that was searched. In fact they didn't search the luggage, they just searched my briefcase and the little white bag and they made me open my computer. ...

"I had this bottle of Viagra in my briefcase. I've had it in there since December, [and] forgot it was even in there. There were 30 pills prescribed, and when they counted them out, there were 29. And yet, everybody thinks I loaded up on the stuff for a trip to the Dominican Republic."

Limbaugh said he was being very restrained when he described the actions of the female Customs agent.

"She pulls out this bottle and says with 25 people in the room, 'What have we here?! Viagra!' she shouts. 'And look, it's not your name on the bottle! This is a crime! This is a violation of law!' She's shouting this all over the Customs Office, and the whole room has come to a dead stop."

Limbaugh says it wasn't until the case was turned over to the Palm Beach County sheriff's office that he was able to finally leave the airport, noting, "What happened is that somebody, and I assume it's at Customs, leaked this. How else is this discovered? ... I think this was leaked before I got out of there. It was in the news before I actually was in the car on the way home."

Limbaugh will not face any charges for carrying the non-narcotic drugs, as Mike Edmondson, a spokesman for State Attorney Barry Krischer, a Democrat, today said it is generally not illegal in Florida for a medication to be prescribed in a third party's name if all parties are aware and the doctor documents it properly.

"This was unreal, this experience was totally unreal," Limbaugh said, as he went on to attack news organizations that are trying to link this incident with his previous dispute over pain-relief prescriptions to which the host had become addicted.

"If my name had been Valerie Plame, I will guarantee you this story would have been written differently and it would read differently, and there's be all kinds of, 'Who in the government is leaking the identity and the details of this? He's an average, ordinary common citizen!' But of course, that's not the angle with me."

"I understand they hate me, folks," he said. I expect them to want bad things to happen to me, and I expect them to not like me. I have targeted them for 18 years. It's quite natural that they do this."

Still, Limbaugh was able to keep his sense of humor about the situation, saying, "I have always been able to rise above it all, and this is just another example," and, "If this story persists for over four hours, then please call your local editor or physician."

Saying stuff like that, certainly sells.

It's probably wrong of me, but I have a clear image of this gal.

Nails 3" long, bustin' out of her uniform at the seams, you get the rest.

Mmmm-Hmmmm.

How could something found in an airplane seat, be suggested as his? Unless he's flying to Europe in his own private plane.

And I thought 2000 and 2004 was bad. In 2000, we had some of the most vicious campainging by Algore, running ads blaming Bush for lynchings and killing minorities. In 2004, CBS and Dan Rather tried to pass off faked memos as real in order to take Bush down and not one single serious question was asked by teh MSM about Kerry's service record, (which contains a less than honorable discharge), and not one question about his 20 year liberal voting record.

Now, don't get me wrong, I am not excusing the customs agent shouting out what was in the bottle, but Rush should be more careful. Rush should realize he is not above the law.

He's below the law. That's the whole point. This could never happen to you or me.

He's using his EIB mike to go on the offense and warn would be liberal thugs that they better not try to frame him. They're forewarned.

How could anyone prove that something found in a seat of a commercial aircraft, belongs to him? Do you know how much trash is all over the place, after a trans-oceanic flight...a lot.

The behavior of the customs agent is a perfect example of someone with a minimal education and background suddenly having the power of arrest--what can he do? If he protests she can arrest him.Good law enforcement officers should be embarrassed by these losers.

Maybe the customs agents were just mad at Rush's parody of the "Elite Federal Bagage Screeners Corp of America" ad that he plays on Rush 24/7.

I thought about that parody as soon as the story first broke. After hearing Rush describing today as to what went on during that "bust", I was thinking he now needs a follow up to that parody, using a FemiNazi screener taking down some guy for Viagra...

I don't blame him for being very suspicious, and careful.

I don't blame him period. Heads should be rolling in the offices of Customs, the WPBPD, and the Associated Press, but I can almost guarantee you, they were all high-fiving one another.

Like I said, the way the AP reported the story, you would have thought Viagra was illegal.

why doesn't he just travel without any luggage

He would have to wear a pocketless jumpsuit but then they would "find" something in a body cavity search.

I find that the young women "helpers" are all like that. Just after 9/11 I traveled a lot with my wife. They confiscated a rat-tailed comb from me as if they were disarming a member of WTC flight crew. Hyper. Tense. Shrill. Pathetic.

One set had me loosen my belt to the point of my pants almost falling down. When I tried to reach for them, "Keep your arms up!" was bitched at me. My wife enjoyed the whole episode.

Things got calmer later.

That is insane. Of course it could have happened to you or me, it happens everyday in this country.

I love the line in the parody where the old man says, "I used to soil myself down at the bus station, but his is much better".

LOL

I seriously doubt, that they would do a cavity search on Rush.

She pulls out this bottle and says with 25 people in the room, 'What have we here?! Viagra!' she shouts.

After years of saying,"Would you like a lid with that?".

The problem is the TSA is populated by minimum wage idiots on a power trip with absolute power to destroy whomever they like.

Do you really think any Custom's Agent ever gets within a hundred yards of President BJ let alone searches his bags?

Bubba The Pig would say "It takes two to tango" or some odd comeback line like that.

Nor any questions about him meeting with Vietnamese Communists in France to "negotiate the peace". Kerry is a traitor, no doubt about it.

But the mass media pulled out all stops. It still wasn't enough. Even with Democrats slashing the tires of dozens of get out the vote vans.

Expect more brick throwing, more arson, more fist fights, more smears, more forged documents, more media distortions ("Bush's draft legislation").

This country is headed for another Civil War. And with partisans like this working inside law enforcement, I don't count on them pulling the trigger on rioting leftists.
