The story of Baldwin is pretty inspiring - in spite of his disease, he went out to battle and whupped Saladin. Guy of Lusigan is also an interesting character, and not quite so honorable either.

The factionalism between various elements of Outremer, particularly between the Templars, Hospitallers, and Teutonic Knights caused endless strife and weakened the kingdom to the point that Saladin was able to drive the crusaders from the Holy Land.

Although considered to be an intellectual light weight by his bitter opposition, W rose to greatness inspite of the constant attacks by those outside perimeter of his circle.
