Iran says does not "give a damn" about UN resolution

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran's president said on Friday his country would pay no attention to international calls to halt its nuclear work, hours before the U.N. atomic watchdog reports on whether Tehran has met U.N. Security Council demands.

"Those who want to prevent Iranians from obtaining their right, should know that we do not give a damn to such resolutions," Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told a rally in northwest Iran, the official IRNA news agency reported.

Mohamed ElBaradei, chief of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), is widely expected to tell the council and the agency's board on Friday that Iran has not stopped enriching uranium or fully answered IAEA queries as the U.N. body asked a month ago.

The West accuses Iran of pursuing a civilian nuclear programme as a cover to acquire atomic bomb. Tehran denies it.

"Enemies think that by ... threatening us, launching psychological warfare or ... imposing embargos can dissuade our nation to obtain nuclear technology," Ahmadinejad said in Zanjan province.

Iran said this month it had enriched uranium to the level used in power stations for the first time and has vowed to pursue large-scale enrichment of uranium.

Not only is the UN a joke, but many of our own (I use the term loosely) will still insist that we go through the same self-defeating process of "giving peace a chance" by trying to utilize the UN.

President Bush has either lost his nerve or his mind.

Millions of us will die because of this.

Bush would rather ride his bicycle than stop today's Hitler.

He has become a pathetic figure.

Iran says does not "give a damn" about UN resolution

Why should they give a damn? Unless we take it upon ourselves to back them, UN resolutions are pretty much meaningless words.

This is getting nuttier. Either they have nukes, or they think we can not or will not confront them.

More and more I'm sure that Ahmadinejad is actively provoking regional (if not global) war. According to Islamic eschatology, major war is the harbinger of the 12th Imam/Mahdi/Islamic Messiah who will unite the world under Islam, and Ahmadinejad wants to create the scenario required for his coming. Zawahiri says that there's a 7-stage jihad underway to recreate the Muslim Caliphate. Muslim clerics talk about a new Caliphate frequently. World domination, plain and simple. I know we knew that already, but the details indicate they are aggressively seeking it.

Considering how Europe is largely capitulating to their Muslim populations (which just keep growing and gaining influence), it seems to me that the only major stumbling block for the near future is the US. And the way we are handling our borders, and a large chunk of our population is lulled into believing that there is such a Muslim who is moderate, makes me nervous about what might happen in a couple years when GWB leaves office.

Seems to me that the only thing that would unite the Sunnis and Shiites is the Mahdi, whom both sects eagerly await and are obligated to support. Currently, to our advantage, the Muslim world still contains a lot of political and religious infighting, but what would happen if someone appeared on the world scene and really united over a billion people - and their governments - under one common fanatic goal? Disturbing to imagine.

Seems to be a popular response to the UN.

Calm down man, you're misreading this situation. Iran is still at least a couple of years away from building a bomb. We're working towards a diplomatic solution where Russia does all the uranium enrichment for Iran and controls all nuclear fuel in Iran. If this agreement is reached, then Russia just has to move all the spent nuclear fuel out of Iran so there's never enough plutonium in Iran to make a bomb. Nobody outside of Iran wants Iran to have nuclear weapons This is Iran against the world, and I'm betting on the world winning this fight. We have all kinds of ways of stopping Iran if necessary with different kinds of military strikes and the use of classified weapons systems.

Or maybe they're negotiating for a better package of economic incentives, and meanwhile they're running an extortion racket to keep oil prices high.

I respect Iran's honesty on this. The UN Emperor has no clothes!

This makes Condi Rice's diplomacy look downright silly.

But it ain't over yet. We're only in the 3rd inning of this Iranian crisis. Our closer hasn't even warmed up yet.

"The Iranian nation won’t give a damn about such useless resolutions,” said Imadinnerjacket...

But, how does he feel about a squadron of specially outfitted B-2's?

Because of their location, Europe is in much more danger than the US, but the only way Europeans will act is if they experience complete chaos from their own Muslim communities. Think months of riots, widespread bombings, women and children afraid to leave their homes. They already had a taste of it in the past, but not enough to wake up. I think Europe is on the brink of experiencing major riots considering all the tension that has developed between Europeans and Muslim immigrants.

It would be horrible, but it's the only way for Europe to take a stand against the bloodthirsty Jihadists and stop countries like Iran from becoming even more dangerous.

I disagree that Europe is in more danger than the United States.

Target One: Israel

Target Two: United States

Target Three: UK.

I think they want to destroy us more than the Europeans, but it would be difficult for them. Sure, they could send terrorists over to attack us on our own soil (like with 9/11), but looking at the big picture, America has some advantages that Europe does not--our location (no missile from the Middle East could reach us), and our lower Muslim population. Even with the 5 million Muslims in America, 43.6% (See Chart) of them are American converts to Islam. Not that American Muslims can't be crazy Jihadists, but they do not have the same problems and frustrations of assimilating into western society that European Muslims have--which is causing a lot of tension over there.

I could be wrong, but I believe Europe is not far from major problems from their own growing Muslim populations...more than anything they have seen before, and once that starts to happen, they will stop being dhimmis and step up to deal with the real dangers in the world like Iran. Better them than us.
