U.S. near deal with China on illegals (39,000 to be deported to Red China)
The Washington Times ^ | April 5, 2006 | Audrey Hudson

The Department of Homeland Security is near an agreement with China to return up to 39,000 Chinese illegally living in the U.S. to the communist country, which previously had refused to accept deportations. Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff yesterday said the tentative agreement, which would let the U.S. deport Chinese illegals as they are arrested, will act as a deterrent to other foreign nationals contemplating illegal immigration. "We can't be in the position any longer where we are paying the burden and bearing the burden for countries that won't cooperate with us and take their own citizens back," said Mr. Chertoff as he completed a weeklong tour of China, Japan and Singapore to discuss security and immigration issues. Mr. Chertoff said nearly 700 Chinese nationals held in U.S. detention centers are clogging the system and that more than 38,000 have been released on bond after spending the maximum 180 days in lockup.

The Chinese made the mistake of doing the jobs Americans want to do... So back home you go!

They amass capital by hard work and an average savings rate of about 20%. With their exploding middle class (it was close to 5% a decade or so ago, and now is over 20% of the population), they're smart enough to have the new doctor in the family (who attended a US college, and made contacts) save enough to send his cousin to America to open a restaurant. The family works it together, keeping costs minimal, and sells for $30 what they would sell at home for $3. His extended family lives in much greater comfort here, he has a good life there making American wages alongside China's cost of living, and now BOTH are making $50K every year... and STILL putting 20% away. Wait until next decade when they're buying the rental homes in the suburban areas for the full-time income PLUS the property value increases PLUS the principal.

"How did these people get into the country, and how did they amass enough capital to open a restaurant?"

I dont' know how they get into the country. But I do know that it is almost impossible for a Russian woman to get a tourist visa to the U.S., because the U.S. assumes everyone trying to visit from certain countries will try to stay, unless they can prove they have enough interests in their home country to return.

So I suspect a number of them arrived here on valid visas that expired making them illegal.

As far as the capital, I don't know if an illegal can get this. But I heard one American cafe owner complaining about the new mexican restarant across the street. It seemed the government gave them a $50,000 grant to open their business and compete against him.

They apparently didn't do enough yard and house work for politicians. Expect to see lots of help wanted signs in your local Chinese Restaurants.

Tell that to Bush. Deporting a handful of Chinese is just a stunt to make the stupids think you are doing something. It's nothing compared to the millions of invaders you wish to reward.

"These are not chain restaurants, but small, privately owned restaurants. How did these people get into the country, and how did they amass enough capital to open a restaurant?"

Well, not to get too paranoid or anything, but, restaurants have historically been great places to launder money or hide income from the IRS. Not saying that these people are doing this, but I know lots of places that are "cash only" businesses. Makes it easier to cook the books.

Sucks how? The President of China's son was caught shipping AK's, pineapple grenades, and RPG's into the USofA. Who was he sending them to?

Several box cars ended up abandoned in Wats, where the locals made like K-Mart and took what they wanted. The word got out and this is how the shipments were traced back to the son.

Mexican illegals are not the only problem, all illegal immigration from anywhere is unwanted.

but, restaurants have historically been great places to launder money or hide income from the IRS.

Delphi currently pays its workers about $37 an hour in wages and $40 an hour in non taxable "benefits". Every business tries to "launder" money or hide income from the IRS.

the point here is this ... how do you deport people back to their homeland when the country they came from won't let them back?

Obivously our Homeland security Dept is clued on the definition of illegal immigrant. They have 39,000 of them to send back to China.
