I think we're all slavering in anticipation of Perky Katie failing to revive CBS news ratings, but I think that, regardless of her success, she'll be doing the news for some years to come.
She wouldn't leave the Today Show without a guarantee of a long run and big bucks. If the news show tanks, CBS will just have to grit their teeth and absorb the low ratings and salary payout until her contract runs out.

I've seen virtually nothing of Viera in action. Could you flesh out the 'vapid' label? Thanks.

Good one!
Hey Katie: Doorknob and all that....

Perhaps the most surprising aspect of Katie's announcement was the admission, speaking of Matt, that "once in a while we get on each other's nerves, well, he gets on my nerves." Yeah, she wanted to wear the Batman suit.

...Couric made official what she acknowledged was "the worst kept secret in America":Naw, chubby-cheeks, the worst kept secret in America is the fact that a huge number of viewers consider you to be a nit-witted, air-headed, liberal, commie/terrorist/islamist-sympathizing bimbo with an IQ with a numerical figure less than your bra size.
Congrats on your new job of reading a teleprompter.
Big move upward there, stupid.

Matt Lauer didn't react to Katie's statement
Maybe not externally, but internally he was probably elated.
Rumors surfaced several years ago that the two (Katie and Matt) had 'tensions'.

Agreed, Lisa Myers is a solid pro, but I never heard her name mentioned. I think she's seen as more of a serious news professional, not a lite 'n fluffy morning show type. I seriously doubt Lisa Myers would be considered either. For one, she seems to give conservatives a fair shake and seemed to believe Juanita Broderick.
I've never heard of Viera. What's her claim to fame?

this heart thing is definitely news
We know she had heart. Remember her heart-felt concern that Saddam Hussein 'hopefully escaped to Syria'?

Oh that's right. She was right up there with Jimmy's sentiments of 'I've never met a dictator that I didn't like'. God help us.

Meredith Viera has been around for years. She was at CBS back in the early '80s. CBS ran a hipper version of "60 Minutes" called "West 57th Street" or just "West 57th" (that's when I worked at a CBS affiliate in Texas.) She's mostly done "magazine" type shows on TV. I think she's good...but VERY liberal!

Did not watch NBC and will not watch CBS in the morning, noon nor night.
That means you do not watch CSI. That show is really good. You should at least make an exception for one hour a week.

According to the FoxNews.com gossip Roger Friedman, Katie won't start her new job until
mid-August. That's a lot of time to learn how to read headlines.

Is she just going to be a talking head, or is she going to be the managing editor, too? And if she's not the ME, who is, anyone know?

"I wanted to tell all of you out there who have watched the show for the past 15 years that after listening to my heart and my gut, two things that have served me pretty well in the past, I've decided I'll be leaving Today at the end of May."
Well, we've seen her gut but this heart thing is definitely news.
Is that why people are so mad at her because of her having her colon checked? I think that because her husband died that she was doing to so another family did not have to suffer from this disease. It seems to me that just recently in the last year people have started to not like her. The problem is that everyone loved her before that. That is my biggest confusion about her. I never heard any negativity before these past couple years. I have always liked the NBC morning show when I saw it which was not often due to work, but to me they seem nice enough. Again because I only saw the show five times a year tops, I am not sure exactly how they act.

She lost me with the 'Reagan is an idiot' lead in the '90's. She was entertaining until she became an overpaid liberal elitist spewing here venom and bilge daily trying to pass it on as news.

Needs to change the phone number for where to send the DNC faxes. Other than that, who cares... LOL! Best response on the thread. Stole it for a new tagline.
