An unsuspecting viewer watching this morning's Today show would have thought that Fox News failed to disclose that in his interview by Brit Hume yesterday, VP Cheney acknowledged having a beer at lunch on the day of the shooting incident.
But when it comes to the MSM, it pays to be 'suspecting.'
Here's how NBC White House reporter Kelly O'Donnell artfully chose her words:
"The official White House transcript of the interview shows Cheney said 'I had a beer at lunch.' Fox News did not show that particular clip during Brit Hume's program."
Having watched the Hume/Cheney interview, I was jarred by O'Donnell's statement since I was certain that I had heard reference to the mid-day beer. And sure enough, the interview transcript confirms it:
Brit Hume:
"The Vice-President said he had one beer at lunch, but the afternoon hunt began a couple hours later."
So Hume and Fox News did indeed inform its viewers of the facts, but chose to have Hume report them rather than playing the Cheney clip. Yet the clear inference from the Today show story was that Fox News failed to disclose the lunch-time beer.
If anyone is hiding facts from viewers, it is NBC News and the Today show.
People at the Today show can't read.
Today Show/NewsBusters guaranteed-engine-starter ping.
People at the Today Show are stuck in Yesterday, when the Lamestream media ruled the airwaves with only 3 major networks. Today, they wander around like dinosaurs wondering why it's getting so cold, and there is nothing to eat.
Good riddance to them.
One beer with lunch 5 hours before the incident does not make a drunk hunter...... The media is so juvenile....I can see them holding their breath and turning red....the little darlings just need a nap.
Kelley O'Donnell is a liar. That clip was played on the Brit Hume show last evening. O'Donnell fits well at NBS with that a$$ David Gregory.
Who hunts quail sober? JK
The hits just keep on a coming...
It was shown on FNC around 2 pm yesterday. Not only is the Today Show a day late, but they're liars.
I'm sure Kelly will make a retraction . . .
. . . when hell freezes over.

Nice catch.......... they lie in so many ways.

LOL! MSM at it again.
Having one beer two hours before any incident is non-news. It only takes one hour to metabolize one beer.
NBC flat out LIED.
I heard the clip yesterday afternoon on FOX- the VP himself said he had a beer at lunch(the "incident" took place hours later).
A beer? Since he was hunting quail in south Texas I would have been more worried if he had a Perrier.
I watched the interview twice. He said he had a beer at lunch, it wasn't hidden.....I am so tired of this story. It is venom laden.
FNC should have some fun with this.
That's right. O'Donnell said the FNC didn't play the clip of Cheney saying he had a beer, but she failed to add that Brit Hume clearly stated the same facts. I can't see it as other than an intentional deception on Today's part.
It doesn't matter if he only drank half a bottle of wine cooler. The fact that he wasn't tested for alcohol until the next morning looks bad, we all know that. I know you can't just breathalize the VP like a normal person but the lefties now have a talking point.
Is it a law in Texas that all people involved in gun accidents be tested for drunkenness?
Paging NBC's advertisers...
Uh yeah, and the average American doesn't know that one beer at lunch means you're drunk 5 hours later. Sure, that's going to work. If they all get together and keep saying it, I'm sure they're going to convince Joe Six Pack of that. Just like they're going to convince the average American that bird shot is the same as a 30-30.
"Am I misunderstanding that the MSM is saying that Brit did not show the clip, but just reported."
The MSM doesn't like FNC

Cafferty Slams Cheney Interview On FOX News, Jealous? (VIDEO)
http://exposetheleft.com/2006/02/15/cafferty-cheney/
(snip)
WOLF BLITZER, HOST: Jack Cafferty standing by with the Cafferty File. First of all. What did you make of Dick Cheneys interview today.
JACK CAFFERTY: Well, I obviously didnt see it because it hasnt been released in its entirety yet. But I would guess it didnt exactly represent a profiling courage for the Vice President to wander over there to the f-word network for a sit down with brit hume. I mean thats a little like Bonnie interviewing Clyde, aint it? Where was the news conference? Where was the access to all of the members of the media? I dont know, whatever.
BLITZER: You still think he needs to do a full-scale news conference and invite all the camera reporters and ask whatever they want?
CAFFERTY: Thats never going to happen. But running to the FIXnetwork. Talk about seeking a safe haven. Hes not going to get any high hard ones from anybody at the f-word network, I think we know that.
"People at the Today show can't read."
....or write, so one has to wonder, how is their math?
It is NBC---enough said.
Hey, Jack, it's really time you grow up.
Yep .. there is a video of it at the link I provided
I saw this this morning and instantly knew it was a lie. I only had FOX news on all day and I know this was said at least once!! Yet NBC blatantly lies as usual. And they wonder why Cheney went to FOx news....
It says a LOT about CNN that they let that classless slob McCafferty STILL have a spot on their network...
This sort of thing does not happen because they are careless or inept (although they are both). It is intentional. That takes it to a whole other level.
Yeah but FOX failed to report other key facts of this incident!!! Cheney hadn't relieved himself since lunch and was 'hunting with a full bladder' and, worse, he hadn't trimmed his toe nails for weeks prior to the accident!
sarc/off
Let's see how long the Today Show delays reporting on the transcripts of Saddam and his fellow thugs talking about hiding WMDs.
Actually, he was licensed. He just didn't have some new $7 stamp. And in TX, non-lethal hunting accidents don't have to be reported to the authorities. Cheney did anyway, right away. Does Joe Six-Pack do that?
The horror.

Once they take the alcohol angle as far as it will go..they will the have to resort to the longer term angle.
Cheney's pal is no spring chicken...if he doesn't die in the near future, he will die in the not-so near future.
When he does eventually die - there will be a new "scandal" as to the cause of death, and calls for the investigation of Cheny on manslaughter.
I enjoyed Mary M's facial expressions as Katie was reading her scripted questions.
Beer. Wine. Ammo.
Oh, MY WORD!!! The VP was DRUNK and wandering around with a loaded shotgun!! We are ALL doomed! VP Cheney MIGHT accidentally get hold of the football and press the launch button! ARREST him immediately!!!
Now...the next big question: Was Slick sniffing the white stuff BEFORE the "under the desk" episode or after? Was he snorting the white stuff before or after the cigar episode? Was he...oh, you get the picture.
How in the world "governs" manages to watch this crap and remain sane is beyond me.
"Seems to me there's a Texas law that says if there's a hunting accident committed by an unlicensed hunter, there are penalties just for that. Thirty to ninety days in jail I seem to remember. Oh well you can be sure somebody's checking on that right now. "
It is poossible that the maximum sentence for hunting w/o a license could involve jail time. BUT, my experience as a defense attorney shows a minor infraction would be a fine at most.
