Hi Everyone,
I am writing everyone in my address book about my nephew. He is my sister Carol's Little boy. He is 4 y/o and was stabbed accidently in the knee with a pitchfork at my mother's farm. He spent 10 days in the hospital at Green Bay and has been at Children's in Milwaukee for the last four weeks. The infection which they think is a fungus is eating away the bone and the cartilage in his knee.
First of all, I am asking for your prayers for him and his family as well as the physicians and nurses taking care of him. They have not been able to identify the fungus and now a possible mold has started to grow. They did more surgery today. He has been to surgery at least 12 times in the past month. Today they will send tissue cultures to San Antonio to a specialist there to see if they have any idea what it could be.
I am also looking to see if anyone out there knows some infectious disease people who are connected with any of the top dogs in the country. I don't mean to insult anyone at Children's in Milwaukee as they are rated # 3 in the nation but I am thinking a fresh set of eyes to look at the information might uncover something. There is nothing written in any of the literature about Jared's particular scenario. I have asked Carol for a copy of his entire medical record from Children's. I am sure it is probably 3000 pages but I don't care how much it costs. I know nothing about infectious disease.
They say that E-mails can reach around the world. It may take a small miracle to save this little guy's leg.

Prayers for the little boy, for comfort and healing.
Have they ruled out Necrotizing Fasciitis?
Prayers sent up! God Bless....
Prayers sent.
I wish I could say, but all I have is this e-mail which I read about 30 minutes ago. Any ideas from FReepers, I will be glad to pass on to our friend.

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "As if threats of pandemic superflu weren't enough, yet another new and potentially fatal "superbug" is spreading worldwide including in Tucson.
No mere threat, this bug has infected hundreds of Tucsonans already and hospitalized dozens, some with life-threatening illness.
Appearing at first as just a pimple, maybe a small cut, the infection often is mistaken by many victims and their doctors for a spider bite, delaying vital treatment.
Known as MRSA methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus or "mersa" it is in fact a highly contagious bacteria that has developed strong resistance to most antibiotics, making it hard to treat and setting the stage for dangerous invasive disease."
It was a pitchfork, so maybe talking to Veterinarians in the area would help. Maybe they've treated something i.e. wound infections in the livestock- that would give a clue? Just guessing.
Prayers being said for the little boy.
Prayers up...
Lord, touch Carol's precious little boy's leg, and remove the infection, in Jesus name. Amen.
Make sure to tell Carol to give God the glory for her boy's healing.
Prayers up, for comfort and healing, for the family and friends, for the doctors and nurses, and that his leg can be saved.
Wow. Mold infections can be severely toxic to bone and tissue.
My prayers to the living God for this child, his family, and the medical practitioners.
Dear Lord,
Please watch over Carol's little boy.
He has an infection.
Please guide the doctors, nurses
and caregivers.
Please comfort Lando Lincoln, Carol
and the rest of the family.
This is a lot to ask, but we humbly
ask this all in Your name Jesus.
Amen.
