YUMA, ARIZ. --When Border Patrol agents here meet for "the muster," their gathering before the night shift, they've got a lot to talk about. On a recent evening, shift commander Tony Martinez ticked off a laundry list of events from the night before. Scores of illegal immigrants had rushed the 8-foot metal fence that separates San Luis, Ariz., from Mexicali, Mexico--a tactic known as the "banzai run." A routine checkpoint stop turned up 251 bundles of marijuana in a rental car. And a report out of Miami indicated that some illegals were getting plastic surgery on their fingertips so their prints wouldn't be recognized by the FBI's database. "Remember Casa Grande," Martinez warned, referring to an incident when an agent found three axes and three loaded guns in an illegal immigrant's duffel bag. "And please, be careful."

I just don't get these open-border people. I bet they lock their homes when they're gone so unwanted intruders don't get in. I bet they lock their businesses at night so unwanted intruders don't get in. Why wouldn't they want to secure the borders so unwanted intruders don't come in?

Feds are always liars when it comes to illegals at our Mexico border. An Isreali style triple fence would cost 20 billion tops and would end the problem once and for all if 10,000 troops joined them
Half of our illegal alien population is visa overstayers. They have to be rooted out too. Employer sanctions would help mightily! Let Mexico and Latin America take care of their own!
They see it as giving away someone else's resources. They simply aren't bright enough to relate cause with effect.
For years companies sought and are still seeking "cheap" labor from China. For every job exported to China along with it goes a dozen ancillary jobs. With those, there is the environmental impact upon world resources, ie. those are now competing for limited global mineral resources, driving those costs higher.
Who now considers "cheap" labor so cheap?
The market takes care of things like that pretty efficiently. If you put restrictions on things like outsourcing and importation you only drive up costs domestically and raise unemployment levels.
Added to this combustible mix are the Minutemen, the angry denizens of the border who have decided to take matters into their own hands by forming armed teams to watch over the green line, as the border is called.
Chris Simcox, the Minutemen's founder, says his organization added 20 new chapters in October alone and has had requests to form 40 more, including "interior enforcement" groups that will photograph employers picking up workers at day laborer depots.
One night, shoot a large volley of blanks, with a few salt pellets in the mix. Most will hit the dirt, thinking they survived. A few will drop in intense pain. They won't try again.
