A 55-year-old inmate who was condemned for the abduction, sexual assault and beating death of a nine-year-old girl, was executed just after 6 p.m. Thursday in Huntsville.

Melvin Wayne White confessed to the slaying of Jennifer Gravell, who lived two houses from him in the small West Texas town of Ozona.

White blamed a lifelong drinking problem for the killing, but prosecutors insisted White was a pedophile who used alcohol as an excuse for his actions.

Jennifer's father, Charlie Gravell, shot himself to death in May 2003.

I'm waiting for the execution of this scumbag.

http://www.tdcj.state.tx.us/stat/austinperry.htm

He pleaded guilty and was given the death penalty. He waived his right to an appeal, and asked to be placed near the front of the line for swift execution.

About 2 weeks before his scheduled execution, that no-good group called Amnesty International meet with him and convinced him to ask for an appeal.

So, now he sits on death row, costing the public money and inconvenience.

His victim was a wonderful 8-year old boy who lived across the street from us. The boy's remains were not found for 8 months. His wrists and ankles were bound. The lose of their son and brother ripped the victim's family apart. They left the area and are scattered and I've lost touch with them. But hardly a day goes by that I don't glance at the home where the family used to live -- and remember David.

California has nearly 600 on death row. We get 20-30 new sentences per year and 1 or 0 executions. Some guy that was convicted in 1982 just had his conviction overturned because there should have been a change of venue. 23 years after the conviction.

Back in the good old days of real West Texas justice, this animal would have been swinging from the end of a rope on the day the trial was over, courtesy of the men of the community. This was in the days when fathers and uncles and brothers protected the members of their family and neighbors. The government does a lousy job of justice, just as they do with everything else they take over and botch.

It is a proven fact that if your middle name is "Wayne" or "Lee", you have a one-in-three chance of ending up on death row.

Even though this piece of scum committed his crime when I was only a baby, he wasn't executed until 1998. I remember when he finally got what he deserved, it was big news as his crime seriously shook the town. Last year, I was taking a class and the instructor was the Chief of Police in College Station. He discussed this case at length with us as it was one the first murder he dealt with as a patrolman. I think the file is gruesome enough but I could add another detail about "mutilation" that isn't included but is something I don't think most people want to read about.

What are we supposed to act like George Lyin' Ryan, former IL governor? Death penalty's there for a reason.

David Karim Kazmouz, 9.

Perry Allen Austin

"In August 1992, prosecutor Lucy Davidson said, Austin had been on parole for about a year after 1978 rape, attempted rape and aggravated robbery convictions in Dallas. The victims were his sisters and mother."

"When the boy's (David Kazmouz) skeletal remains were found in April 1993 in a wooded area about six miles from his home, Davidson said, the cause of death could not be determined. However, it was ruled a homicide because the leg bones were tied together."

"Davidson said Austin picked up Kazmouz near his home, injected him with Demerol and slit his throat."

I posted a link to "Dead Man Eating", a hilarious site about last meals request, and you're ranting on some obliques about your governor and me not thinking Orenthal did the nasty??**

Snap out of it, guy! Take a weekend of rest and relaxation over in Kankakee or sumpin!

**P.S. - it was a hoot during the OJ stuff. I worked around the corner of the murder at the time, and across the street from the infamous Mezzaluna (speaking of 'last meals')....used to see him in the Brentwood 'hood all the time.

Speaking of Illinois, I was on the phone last night with my old USMC buddy (in Clifton.."Metro Chebanse"). He and his wife said it was pouring, thundering and hailing. Seeing the news this morning, I gotta believe that system was the same one that zapped Indiana a few hours later.
