That's exactly what I meant by the moving a finger or making a sound. At first, they only seem to be happening in a dreamy way; then at some point I am fully awake, and making a sound or moving my hand.

"Or so you think."
No... I am pretty certain it has not been because of space aliens. I don't think Elvis would lie to me.

For some reason I think I can wiggle my legs -- so I start wiggling them as fast as possible in order to wake myself up. I have no idea if my legs are actually moving in reality or not, but it feels like it in the dream state. That works for me too - I wiggle my finger. The effort of firmly wiggling a finger eventually cascades to the whole arm and throughout the rest of my body, and I'm WHOOOMPED awake - and feeling terrible.
Funny thing is, when I'm in that state, I'll wake up violently even if I try to stay asleep. Ugh!
Hubby sez he can tell I'm tweaking out, but he's never seen my fingers actually wiggle. So I don't think I'm actually moving the finger like I would when I'm awake, although it sure feels like it's moving "for real" & not just moving inside the dream.
Hey, when you wake up out of that state, do you end up hearing a scraping sound when you move your eyeballs around in your eye sockets or move your head? And does your head feel like it wants to burst?
