Why is this so hard to understand?

George H.W. Bush did not know David Souter. Souter was recommended to him by others. He got burned.

George W. Bush did not want to get burned. He did want a nominee who could get on the bench. He chose someone who he KNEW. Someone he TRUSTED. This is the president who put Janice Rogers Brown on the Federal bench. He didn't want to get burned by someone he didn't know. So he chose someone very reliable. Someone he truly knew.

She is the anti-Souter.

Male bovine fecal effluvia. She is Souter writ large.

This is the president who put Janice Rogers Brown on the Federal bench.

Then he could have put her on the SCOTUS. IIRC, it was not the president that pushed through her confirmation. It was the conservative base (Club for Growth, Progress for America, etc.).

And this was the only women who would fit the bill? If you think so, I have some lovely land in the Everglades that will put you in the thick of things if you love wildlife.

Even if he had put up a great conservative with a record, do you think he or she would have gotten through even with a fight? I seriously doubt it. We have misdirected the anger away from the RINOs in the Senate who cannot be counted on. When push comes to shove we really do not have a majority. If we want this fight, fight it where it counts. Our support must go to those who are bonified conservatives. No middle of the road candidates. RINOs rule right now. Don't like it, change it.

LOL! From the evidence, it seems she's more likely a pro-life Souter.. On some issues, Id bet she's left of O'Connor (affirmative action, Title 9, eminent domain, civil "rights" issues, etc)

We can go through the blood-letting of the hearings, or she can resign now. I think it would probably be better if she just stepped down now..

"George W. Bush did not want to get burned. He did want a nominee who could get on the bench. He chose someone who he KNEW. Someone he TRUSTED."

The problem for the President is a credibility problem.

If he couldn't be "trusted" to enforce the border and immigration laws after 9/11...

Or veto CFR...

Or deny Kennedy his Education Bill....

Or control federal spending...

Or take the side of the Minutemen...

Or ask us to accept the assignment of his father palling around with Bubba Clinton as ambassadors, then blind "trust" of his judgement IS certainly in question.

I am saving this statement. I figure once she is on the court, I will get to post it back to you quite a bit.
