The article stated that the reason was that electric rates in the Northeast are higher than in the Southwest because more power in the Northeast comes from nuclear plants, while that in the Southwest comes from coal-fired plants.

WHAT nuke plants in the Northeast? The only one that I know of that is working near to capacity is Seabrook in NH. There could be more, but I don't know. The Northeast gets a LOT of it's power from hydroelectric plants in Canada. That's where our town-owned electric company gets ours.

The latest Rasmussen Reports survey finds that Americans support the nuclear power option by a more than 2-to-1 margin (55% to 24%).

It should be interesting to watch how the Seven Sisters, their flunkies in the leftist foundations and their eco-rat foot soldiers seek to sabotage this trend.

There was some discussion early on of the "energy bill" containing some relaxation of nuke requirements. I didn't look at the final bill to see whether they came to fruition. I certainly hope so.

We took the kids on a tour of Seabrook nuke plant in 2001 with a homeschool group. Of course we didn't get to go in the dome area itself; they have an 'Education Center' next door. The man doing the presentation mentioned that at the time the plant was built, there were actually TWO plants planned for the site, but because of all the delays for legal stuff and extra costs involved, the utility ditched the second one before it ever went online. The dome was there and everything!

I asked him if, in the present political climate (this was just after 9/11, and I knew the price of oil was gonna go up) if they had any plans to try to open the second one and he said no, it would be outdated by now. Bummer that. We could use some cheaper electricity in this area.

"Once upon a time society planned for and built infrastructure to provide for their children and grandchildren.
The last 40 years, when the "me" generation took over, everything changed. Every possible good idea was perverted by the "copernican" types. They are all the center of the universe, and if stuff isn't there when they die, what do they care?

Think water supply, energy management, highway system, railroads (transportation), local roads, parks; the list goes on and on..."

I like Ike! What was built up by the toil of ten generations is being squandered by the eleventh. I'm a later member of the baby boom generation (born in 1958) and I am absolutely disgusted with what is happening.
