Ex-president Bill Clinton now says he would have taken out Osama bin Laden before the 9/11 attacks – if only the FBI and CIA had been able to prove the al-Qaida mastermind was behind the attack on the U.S.S. Cole.
"I desperately wish that I had been president when the FBI and CIA finally confirmed, officially, that bin Laden was responsible for the attack on the U.S.S. Cole," Clinton tells New York magazine this week. "Then we could have launched an attack on Afghanistan early."
"I don’t know if it would have prevented 9/11," he added. "But it certainly would have complicated it.”
Despite his failure to launch such an attack, Clinton said he saw the danger posed by bin Laden much more clearly than did President Bush.
"I always thought that bin Laden was a bigger threat than the Bush administration did," he told New York magazine.
"You don't understand. I coulda had class. I coulda been a contender. I coulda been somebody, instead of a bum, which is what I am, let's face it."

Yeah, but if he knew it was Bin Laden who hit the cole, he would have gone after him?????? yeah, right.

Another thing: I realize -- and am willing to extend a benefit of the doubt to Clinton about this -- that Clinton recognized Bin Laden as a terrorist, capable of terrible terrorist activity, and yet, if he DID perceive him as such while in the President's office, why did he NOT do anything about it THEN, when he was capable of doing something?
It seems entirely ugly for Clinton to make this statement now, as if he has some "I can go back in time and make it alright" special power. All this accomplishes is: Clinton polishing his own ego, and, Clinton taunting everyone else who has provided service since he left office.
It's one of those statements made in such recklessness that it seems Clinton has not learned one tad since his impeachment about self responsibility in these huge, world-affecting issues.
Since so many people wish this liar would just hurry up and die, his presidential burial plans can now be revealed.

Think about it, if it gets out that the Clintons, and in particular Hitlary, who brought in Jamie Gorelick, was responsible for 9-11 then Hitlary's presidency hopes and senate seat are HISTORY! Also, depending on how deep it goes, the Democratic party goes the way of the Whig party. IT CEASES TO EXIST!

He makes a speech about Bin Ladin's role in the terrorism going on around the world...and says that it is SO important that he is taken care of...blah, blah, blah...
Clinton KNOWS Bin Ladin is doing this according to the speech you posted...
Sudan offers Bin Ladin to him...he turns him down...
and NOW says HE was more attentive to this than Pres. Bush?
REmember, not only was Pres. Bush in office only 8 months, but the delay in the election results made him way behind on naming a Cabinet and hiring all of his employees...so he really had only had a few months to settle into job...
And we KNOW that he was aware of al-Queda, because Condi Rice gave an interview about how dangerous they were in the fall before Bush was inaugurated.
