I was mainly thinking of drowning and injuries due to voluminous garb which also might interfere with other swimmers and cause slip and falls. Public safety and liability are real concerns here.

I had not thought of chemicals but dyes in clothing not meant for swimming is a concern as well.

"Wouldn't the chemicals used in the pool deal with any safety concerns you've got?"

I got the impression Dervish meant all the clothing would hinder and bind the muslim womens legs and arms disabling them from drowning which would thus be a great liability to any public pool across America. Nothing to do with body hygiene or pool chemicals.

This is the one thing I like about Islam...their women are very modest.

After looking at girls in church this summer with micro-mini shorts and slivers of halter tops, the modesty of Islamic women is refreshing.

Hasidic Jewish women also practice modesty in dress, and quite a few smaller Baptist churches. Also the Amish.

Their women are all gorgeous, and don't need to flounce about dressed like cheap 8th Avenue whores.

"where do you live?"

NYC where most public pools have been shut because of liability costs.

I was anticipating a future course of events. I support school vouchers, but I would not support them for Madrassas.

" disabling them from drowning "

oops, major typo there. I meant all the clothes they wear into a pool disables muslim women from swimming effectively thus causing them to drown(huge laibility) while tangled up in their own fish nets which looks like they're wearing a laundry basket of clothes.

I wonder how they get the explosives residue out of the pool after they swim?

I agree that a it's nice to see modesty once again, and I even agree that it's a good solution for them as to preserving their modesty. But where is the outcry of the aclu kooks over the use of a public pool by a religious group, barring others? Listening? Hearing only the rustle of tumbleweeds...

Yes, of course, groups can reserve public pools and the like for private use, but if this were a Christian or Jewish group, there would be the rumble, however futile, of weak protest from the aclu over separation of Church and state or some such. And then the rush to arms of DUmmies over the 'outrage', even if quickly squelched, but the aclu is too busy parsing out the minutia of how to display the 10 Commandments or keep religion away from kids and sex ed available to them, etc.

I'm inclined to agree, just off the top of my head, but that's a different issue.

The possibility of drowning is an issue. On the other hand, earlier this century, everyone wore a whole lot of clothes to swim, compared to now. If the facility wanted to minimize drownings effectively, they'd have to swim-test everyone, like the Scouts do.

And an article here recently said that almost all drowning victims are male, because they are inclined to overestimate their swimming ability. We had quite a scare with one of my sons at the beach last month, because he got overconfident.

We have some of that, too. We also have two Ethiopian families and a Sudanese family, and their traditional clothes are much more flattering, as well as modest. In Oklahoma we had a large Nigerian community, and they'd come to church in full court dress - acres of satin, sequins, turbans, glass beads ... it was so cool!

Those African women really know how to dress up! My daughter and her husband had Senegalese women in their congregation--always dressed to the nines.

" On the other hand, earlier this century, everyone wore a whole lot of clothes to swim, compared to now."

Hardly comparible to the endless layering of fabric muslim women ARE forced to wear for swimming. I'd like to know what their muslim husbands "get to choose" as swimwear. Bet it's just swim trunks.

When they swim, the women wear three-quarter-length pants — spandex or free-flowing garments — covering their bodies from navel to knees, as they believe their religion requires. Their tops are an assortment of T-shirts and modest swimwear.

"Endless layering of fabric" is quite an exaggeration. Something like capri-length exercise pants, and a t-shirt or bathing suit top.

You're near perfection with your Hillary Speak. Hillary is placing a gold star next to your name this very minute. Careful, the other Hillary posse members might get jealous.
You know how quickly liberals eat their own.

Do kindly read the article, dear Freep friend. It clearly states that Jewish, Christian and any other women are welcome.
Guess you missed that.

It isn't hard to miss the under lying agenda of reverse discrimination and anti-christianity seeping across western civilization by eastern opression.

Guess you intend to keep on missing that.
