Blame Bush, not liberals --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My friend Joseph Farah is 100 percent right that the Supreme Court ruling against homeowners and their property is an outrage. But as I read on the WND website the usual accusations about "activist judges" and "liberals," I wonder if conservatives could just step back for a second and look at what has really happened.
It seems to me this ruling is more an example of pandering to big business, rather than an example of liberal philosophy. Most liberals I know are quite opposed to the takeover of so much of our life by giant and impersonal conglomerates, and object to how these corporations make it impossible for family-run businesses to compete.
Many of you have turned "liberals" into the convenient scapegoats for everything, but you can lay this one at the feet of the Bush administration. There has not been a more corporation-friendly president in years. The results are frightening if you are an average working person: It's harder to file for bankruptcy, credit-card interest can go as high as 30 percent with nothing you can do about it, gas prices continue to skyrocket, lobbyists have inordinate influence in writing our laws, and American jobs keep getting outsourced.
But readers of WND, instead of admitting that this president and the Republican-led Congress have made only rich people their top priority and ignored everyone else, continue to blame "activist judges and liberals." The mind boggles.
I fully expect to be disagreed with, and I'm ready. But before you tell me I'm wrong, please think about what I've said. Many of you love this president, and while we may never agree about that, please look at the policies that led to the disgraceful Supreme Court ruling and liberals didn't do it. Greed did it, and isn't it shameful that we generate so little outrage about the selfishness and corruption of our political leaders and not just our liberal political leaders.
Joseph Farah is right that the Supreme Court should be ashamed, but he is wrong to expect the Bush administration to do anything about it. Why would the president and the Congress disrupt their pattern of favoring big business at the expense of the rest of us?

It's clear that the Democratic Party gets its money from the rich and its votes from those who are willing to be patronized as "poor." And that the Republican Party gets its votes and its money from the middle class - those who do not wish to patronize anyone or to be patronized by anyone as "poor."I'd be interested in further amplification of your comments . . .
Of course they are. Instead, they want the government to take over our lives.
Yeah, I bought that argument for a long time to. The problem is that when both the Democrat and Republican paths lead to ruin, whats the point in simply taking the longer road? Lets get a real choice available. The only way to do it is with our votes or guns. I prefer the vote and would like to avoid the guns if possible.
Yes, the flaws in her thinking are obvious. My point is is that if we keep following the Republicans when even most liberals have a problem with whats going on, were in trouble. I say again, WHERE IS THE REPUBLICAN OUTRAGE IN CONGRESS ON THIS DECISION! WHERE IS GEORGE BUSH!
I guess even WND has its share of trolls.
Oh, I get it. The U.S.A, the richest country in the world where the "poor" live better than the well-to-do in most other countries, is in a terrible state. Some liberal judges made a terrible ruling that will hurt the poor...but it's all Bush's fault because this is something conservative judges should have done...because they only care about the rich. Hey, what great logic...NOT!!!
Oh please, just keep drinking the Koolaid.
This ruling on property rights is an opportunity to bash the 'rats in the Senate and get the public behind him to propose Scalia/Thomas/Renquist types ONLY and ram them through the Senate.
Many of the people on the Titanic were wealthy, happy, and having a good time...
First of all lets step back and try and understand what the liberal is saying.
1. Big business is bad (therefore capitalism is bad and the freedom we enjoy is bad) typical left-wing hate American mongering.
2. Bush is to blame (more big business and multi billionaires support the socialist anti-American democrats that support Conservatives, i.e. Soros, CISCO, Progressive Insurance, Hollywood, the diet food giant, most of the multi billion industries on the west coast just to name a few) Just four of these multi billionaires donated over $75 million to defeat GW in the last election.
3. The Congress or the President can influence the Supreme Court (can not do).
The decisions of the Supreme Court override ALL OTHER LAW. They override Congress, the President, The States and the People.
Unless the Conservatives in Congress get a backbone and ratify judges that will support and defend the Constitution the Republic is (just like Rome) finished.
If, we, the American People are to maintain our freedom, the judiciary and its left-wing lawyers (ACLU, Southern Law Center, and many others) must not be allowed to render the Constitution void.
I still cannot understand why the left wants to destroy our freedoms and bring the country to its knees but then it has happened in the past in other countries so it is not new to history.
"Carefull we don't blame the republican party for it's own failures."
HUH?!?!?!?!
"I prefer the vote and would like to avoid the guns if possible."
Glad to hear it.
I don't believe she is right. The concept of "public good" is far more expanded in the liberal mindset.
Big Business? Funny how "Big Business" seems to increasingly support Liberal/Socialist causes. Mandatory "Get Your Mind Right" seminars for Gay rights, financial support for Liberal/Socialist politicians, Collusion with "Immigrants" who will do jobs that Americans don't want. "Big Business" is people who make decisions. Just like politicians who depend on them for re-election. "If you want your special treatment, elect me and do as I say. OR ELSE!" "I'm Lance Lilly, and if you want our contribution for re-election, you have to think "Rainbow" and "Pink Triangle". Big Business, like Big Government bears close watching.
this is a common misperception, this thralldom of the us supreme court.
as a matter of simple undisputable fact, the us constitution expressly gives congress the power to pass laws, ANY law or laws, and expressly provide that they are not subject to review by the courts. PERIOD.
yes, the courts are a problem. but the real problem is: 1) a republican congress with no balls or principles, and 2) a republican electorate with no education.
But I support him on many, many other things. And I admire him and his courage personally. Blaming this ruling on GWB is just stupid. I am SICK of people rushing to throw our own captain over on every single issue that is different than their own private agenda.
I suppose, I over reacted. But we might as well hand our opponents a grenade and ask them to toss it at us.
I'm guessing this woman wants more liberals like Scalia and Thomas on SCOTUS.
Isn't that great to hear? :-)
Bush's eeeevil corporate handpuppet
And I remember clearly he promised that if he were elected President, the temperature in Texas would never get higher than 98 degrees.
People, we've been had.
