He rattled off every little clever cliche and colorful description without missing a beat, but what caused me to think this was nothing but a set-up was when he described the book as a Bible, rather than simply something that looked like a book.

He wasn't in a church parking lot, was he?

He's in Texas, is probably Baptist or Methodist, and recognized it on sight. He described my own Bible, a hardbound NIV study Bible, although he said "NVI".

He said it happened right in front of him---besides, a Bible is usually pretty easy to distinguish---
