Ripken's agent said it all (regarding Canseco's assertions): "It's hard to respond to a stream of consciousness absurdity but Cal Ripken's career and life speaks for itself.

Maybe the reason they don't criticize Ripkin is because he doesn't do things for which he could be criticized for.
The idea that minorities are more open to criticism is absurd. Just ask Rush.

The Canseco 'hype the book' tour goes on. I suppose he wants more money or some extra attention.

So many times the ankle-biters of this world have to strike out at the real men. As said Ripkens record stand on its own , his work with kids stands on its own. Its too bad Conseco isnt smart enough to realise that by bad-mouthing a real man he becomes even smaller in the minds of sports fans.

Gee there Jose, Can you match Cal Ripkin Jr World Series Ring for WS Ring?!

The Cuban-born Canseco suggests in the book that he often was singled out for media criticism because he was a minority. LOL. He's as white as a ghost.

I remember when Cal Ripkins Sr. was manager of the Asheville, Orioles in the Southern League. His boys were always at the games as was his daughter.

Jose Canseco will now, forever, be associated with the term "pathetic junkie loser."
It is now safe to completely ignore anything he has ever said or ever will say.
His Warhol time expired about 14 minutes ago.

"[Ripken] could do no wrong," Canseco writes....... What did Ripken ever do that could be labled "wrong"?
To: Mr. Mojo
How dare he? Canseco is a loser, a former bash brother gone wrong. I will be surprised if he makes it in Cooperstown.
I for one will always admire what Cal Ripken Jr. has done for baseball. I miss him dearly.

I didn't think it was possible for me to think any less of Jose Canseco, and then he goes and insults Cal Ripken Jr.

ConFakeco is a washed-up, has been.
Oh woe is me, cry me a river- I Made" Millions", yes Millions of dollars, blew some of it on drugs & steroids, HAD a ferrari and Multi-million dollar house in the BlackHawk estates (CA), screwed off a bunch more cash, couldn't get along with team mates or fit in at the clubhouse's (how Many Teams ?) & WAS a hero in Cuba ..........
BUT I NEVER HAD A GOOD CHANCE TO MAKE SOMETHING OF MYSELF ....
(Sniff, sniff).......
Now I'm just a "rejected minority", thrown out like an Old shoe.
America has reduced me too, a Drug addict, with an Axe to Grind and trying to sell a "tell all" book.

I am assuming that his reference to being a minority is the fact that he took steroids and there is a minority of players who are known to have taken them.
To: Mr. Mojo
1. how is Canseco a minority? Most Cuban's are Spanish/Aryan Visigoths?
2.Ripkin was a great player, however breaking Gehrig's record was not particularly heroic. Gehrig had to stop playing because he was dying. A record like that should have stood and Ripkin should have tied the record and stopped in honor of a dying hero . Even for selfish reasons, he would have received more acclaim if he did that. Does anyone remember "A Separate Peace" when Phineas does not announce he broke a school codebooks the prior record holder was serving in ww2( i don't remember if the guy was killed)

I think what Lee Roy Jordan said about Clint Longley could apply to Canseco:

Joes Canseco's dissing Cal Ripkin was done ONLY to bring attention to Jose Canseco.
Mission accomplished for the foolish whore.

Jose Canseco DID do one great thing for baseball. He tried to field a fly ball, only to miss it completely with his glove, have the ball bounce off his head and over the fence.
One of my favorite baseball blooper videos.

I think Canseco's just angry at those shortstops because the odds of them having a fly ball bounce off their heads and over the wall for a home run were remote at best.
