Number 6 definitely got to me. How could that woman even think of doing that? I've never had kids, but I just can't imagine that gruesome Sophie's choice.

It got me, too. I hadn't seen/heard that quote before, I had no idea what she was talking about. It's hard to imagine such a self-centered bitch can exist, and yet she does, plain as day...

#6 feels a lot more like "How many pets do I want to feed without cramping MY LIFE?" People who decide to kill children on the basis of lifestyle and jars of mayonaise ought to be sterilized. I'm sorry for that sentiment, but even this woman might actually agree with that.

I respectfully disagree with the linking of the concept of Sophie's choice with this evil and despicable hag.

Someone who knows where it is ought to post a link to the original article. It's chilling.

I'm numbed by that sickening woman. I immediately thought about the recent story in Indonesia where the mother of a two-year-old and a five-year-old was holding them both while she was desperately trying to keep the three of them above water while her husband watched helplessly from a second story window. In an instant she had to take a decision no parent should ever face.

She decided to let go of her five-year-old so she and the two-year-old would have a chance to survive - thinking that the older child would stand a better chance on his own than would his brother. Miraculously, they all survived

But for this Richards woman, who through selfishness has decided to kill her children out of a fear of inconvenience, I cannot understand such a mother. I am not a twin, but I have known several sets in my life. They always seem to have an unspoken understanding between them. What a theft she has perpetrated on her surviving child.

It's straight from a NY Times article. The woman in question was portrayed as some sort of heroine in the article--perhaps in the delusional minds there at the Old Gay Lady. Most normal folks realized the utter depravity immediately.

The woman published the article in the New York Times magazine. I remember reading it and having my jaw hanging open in disbelief the whole way through.

A week or two later, the majority of letters to the editor expressed disgust at what she had done, though a a few actually approved.
