The D.C. Chapter of Free Republic invites all FReepers and lurkers in good standing to join us at our annual Christmas party. As the year draws to a close, we'd like to spend an evening with our friends in celebration and gratitude for our blessings.
When: 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., Friday, December 3, 2004
Where: Tom Sarris Orleans House Restaurant, 1213 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, Virginia
Parking & Metro: The Orleans House has a small parking lot. Limited street parking is available. Garage parking on N. Moore St. at Wilson costs around $5. The Rosslyn Metro station, which is served by the Orange and Blue lines, is a half-block from the restaurant.
Please RSVP via freepmail to me or on this thread. Hope to see you there!

dangit...i refreshed it 5 times before doing that....goes to show ya. Don't doubt yourself
RSVP from me and the hubby.
If things go wrong, please post new directions EARLY.
Last year, when we got there and found the party had been moved, we called home and got the kids to check for update. Could not find the new place on the map and wound up going to Layalinas, which wasn't a bad way to spend the evening, but not what we were planning on.
Will do.
That's okay. Thanks for the bumps!
I hope very much to be there.
Maybe I will join you. I might be in town this weekend for some other events. If I could come, that would be a nice way to spend the evening. I will try to let you know by tomorrow.
One thing I hope to do is see the national Christmas tree lighting with President and Mrs Bush Thurs. afternoon. Tickets are gone but I wondered if anyone knows whether folks outside the park might be able to catch a glimpse of the president, or hear the ceremony and singing? I've never seen the tree when it was lit so I hope to see it this time. Let me know if you have any info. Thanks!

If you are outside DC-area and unlikely to ever get to DC area for activities such as this, AND do not wish to be pinged for advance notice of events such as this, kindly let me know by FReep mail. Unless instructed to the contrary, I'll leave you on the full list, but only ping you to post-FReep threads per details below.
Of course, please also let me know if you want on or off the full DC Chapter ping list. If you are on the full DC Chapter list, we ping you of DC Chapter activities such as FReeps after the fact or during a FReep(we sometimes phone in reports from events for a "live thread"). The most recent targets for our peaceful protests have been anti-war protestors, Democrats, rock stars for Kerry (Rock for Change with Bruce Springsteen et al) and CBS News' Fake the Nation TV show.
Sorry SAIC party is the same night.
Despite the somewhat late notice, I hope that you can make this event.
The date was mentioned at the Chapter meeting a few weeks ago, but the location was just selected.
Hope to see you and all other DC Chapter members at this event.
Actually, NO.
However, I'm gonna sneak away and come to your party. Save me a seat!
Any chance you'll be in the DC area this weekend?
FReepmail me if so.
Keep me posted on everything, por favor.
Sadly, no. But I'll be in Oklahoma next week - wanna come down?
I've been to the tree lighting many times and it's always very enjoyable. Haven't gotten in there this past year or so, but after all the usual ticketed seats are taken, they still allow people to come in. There are bleachers way in the back. You might also find someone with tickets to get rid of if they don't want to stand in line, or whatever. You never know. It's the sort of thing that gets you right in the spirit of the season. By all means, go even without tickets.
Thanks for the ping! I always enjoy hearing what the DC chapter is up to--but usually, it's just a bit far for me. See you all at the I-Ball, though!
