>> Red necks, white socks and blue ribbon beer.
I didn't wear white socks, but during my 1960's summer vacations at Myrtle Beach the Bar coolers were typically filled with about 90% PBR (Pabst Blue Ribbon), and 10% with other lesser-quality beers, such as Bud, Miller, etc.. I don't recall anyone ever ordering anything but a PBR.

"Black-and-white photographs from the 1940s show Marx hoisting a beer stein at company headquarters, as well as visits from celebrities Kaye, Jimmy Durante and Donald O'Connor."
When I was in College, one of my favorite pics was a still of Ronald Reagan hoisting a trayfull of PBR (bottles) above his head. I challenge my fellow Freepers to post that pic on this thread.

Official beer in Athens, Gawgiaaa, or so it seemed!!! ;) Back in the late 60s or early 70s, when the drinking age was 18, Pabst built a huge new brewery down near Perry to supply the local market.

The social habits of beer in cans and bottles: In it's natural habitat, beer does not like to travel alone as it is not condusive to fulfilling it's life goal of consumption. Hence, beer usually travels in packs...6-packs, 12-packs, 24-packs....
