"We at CBS have just seen the Doctor's report confirming that Dan Rather has alzheimers."

Have any big time Kerry supporters left the country in the last 24 hours?

I'm sure that Kerry has friends on Old Europe, who could host a hoaxer in their currently vacant ski chalet. Or perhaps Teresa has a friend in Mozambique who has a room to spare?

Ahhhh... you can have a good life, even while you're on the lam.

Rather may be on the verge of a serious breakdown. I half expect him to blow his head off on live TV like that guy in PA.

My two cents: They're going to say they're sticking with their report, come hell or high water, and this is the last they're going to say a word about it. Case closed.

...and this is the last they're going to say a MS Word about it. ;o)

You're probably right. I hope that kind of statement further fuels the other media to sink their teeth in further.

Hey hey, ho ho - LIAR DAN has got to go, hey hey, ho ho, we won't take it any mo'...

Pretty catchy ... need about 200 FReepers with signs circling "Black Rock" in Manhattan chanting this little ditty in the background as CBS makes their much anticipated mea culpa.

When Rather got mugged in the 80's, the mugger kept saying, "What's the frequency, Kenneth."

He turned out to be some schizo who thought the MSM was beaming the voices into his head. By the time they figured out who the mugger was, he was already in prison for killing a TV news worker.

Perhaps he's Rather's unimpeachable source...

I think they will say they are starting an exhaustive internal investigation and the results will not be available for quite some time. In the interim there will be no further comment in order to protect the integrity of the investigation.

You could be right (sticking to their story) but it's very hard to understand how they can justify it. Too many of the other rats (elite mainstream media) have jumped ship for them to hang on. On the other hand they may be forced to not fess up. To do so would be to admit their biases and that is not likely.

Their only way out at this point is tho cry "hoax" and claim they were duped.

You are thinking that CBS is going to act in a rational way. They aren't.

They can stick to the story, even faced with overwhelming evidence. "We know things that you don't, the story is true, we stand by it, and we aren't going to divulge any information about our additional research, or about our sources."

What 'cha gonna do?

"It's not the nature of the evidence, but the seriousness of the charge. Bush needs to answer the charges now."

The charges are not serious. That's what's bizarre about this. They are making something out of nothing and hoping the public is too stupid to understand.

All this is about is trumping up charges and putting the target under suspicion and on the defensive. It has nothing to do with truth and nothing to do with 'seriousness'.
