Israel speeds up building 'Arafat Fence'

NEW YORK – Israel will accelerate construction of the West Bank security fence after a double suicide attack in the southern city of Beersheba Tuesday left 16 people dead, Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Dan Gillerman told WorldNetDaily.

"We will step up our construction of the fence," said Gillerman, after speaking yesterday at a reception welcoming the Republican National Convention to New York City.

"This latest suicide bombing, which took place in a town where the fence has not yet been built, only strengthens our resolve to complete construction. If the U.N. wants to blast someone for the fence, they must blast Arafat because this is the 'Arafat Fence,' being built as a necessary security measure to halt the suicide bombers he sends."

Work on the fence, which is eventually expected to stretch across the entire West Bank, has so far been concentrated in the north of the West Bank. The terrorists were thought to have infiltrated from Heron.

A Hamas cell in the West Bank city of Hebron claimed responsibility for Tuesday's bombings, identifying the bombers as Ahmed Kawasmeh, 26, and Nassim Jabari, 22. They had known each other for years and were members of a secretive Hamas cell led by Kawasmeh's cousin Imad, a top fugitive.

"If their fence was built in that area, the terrorists would have found it incredibly difficult to get to Beersheba," said Gillerman.

Netzach Mashiach, director of the seam line administration, the body responsible for administering the border between Israel and the West Bank, said construction on the southern section of the barrier between the large Gush Etzion settlement bloc and Levahim would start today.

After blasting Israel's fence at the U.N. and declare the barrier "illegal," the EU last month announced it's planning to build a fence to separate recently added EU members Poland and Hungary from their new neighbors – Russia, Belarus and Ukraine. The EU said the fence is necessary to "prevent the free movement of migrants seeking to enter" EU territory.

Gillerman said the U.N. is increasingly making itself irrelevant with its anti-Israel bias.

"In its ruling on the security fence, the U.N., which was founded on noble principles, has emboldened the enemies of Israel and perverted justice," said Gillerman. "The only court we need to listen to is Israel's supreme court, and we will continue to build the fence."

Revelation 17 "...and I saw a woman riding a beast"

Europa was a Phonecian princess who was abducted by a bull-shaped Zeus. The continent of Europe is named for her. Some references said Charlemange was the person who named Europe in this manner. Europa rode astride Zeus who was in the form of a white bull.

of course, in Revelation 17 it's a scarlet beast and it's a city, but it's interesting this parallel of how Europe got its name. Especially since they often seem to be against Israel, nearly as much as the United Nations

Serious chutzpah. Are the Euro punks banking on no major players calling them out on their hypocricy, or on few of us noticing it?

It appears as if "walls" are the in thing this year. Calling it a fence does not make it any less a wall. The Berlin Wall came down. The apartheid wall came down. So too will the wall that Israel builds. History requires the resolution of problems not their quarantine. This is a policy matter. The state of Israel does not require a wall to preserve its security. Sharonites do not speak for all of Israel. They certainly do not speak for West Bank Arab residents.

It is not right wing or left wing to oppose the wall. It is looking at the options to defend Israeli security and look to a solution that is not based on denial of liberty.

The state of Israel does not require a wall to preserve its security.

Suicide/homicide attacks against innocent Israeli civilians have significantly decreased since this "wall" was erected. Do you think that's a coincidence?

This is a policy matter.

Ah, so just give the Arabs what they want and all will be well, eh?

look to a solution that is not based on denial of liberty.

Israel has but two choices left to her: 1) minor and well-deserved denials of liberty, like the fence, or 2) mass expulsion of Muslims by force, slaughtering all who resist. Take your pick.

Palestinians 'made millions' selling cheap cement for barrier they bitterly oppose
Telegraph UK ^ | Jul 26, 2004 | Inigo Gilmore

A damning report by Palestinian legislators, which has been seen by the Telegraph, concludes that Mr Arafat did nothing to stop the deals although he publicly condemned the structure as a "crime against humanity"... The report reveals that the cement originally came from Egyptian companies which supplied it at a huge discount of $22 (£12.50) a ton to help rebuild dilapidated Palestinian houses or buildings bulldozed by the Israelis. Between September 2003 and March this year, 420,000 tons of cement were allegedly sent to three big Palestinian companies. According to the report, however, only 33,000 tons were sold in the Palestinian market. The vast bulk was transported to Israel on trucks owned by the three firms. According to Mr Khreishe, the cement was then sold with a mark-up of at least $15 a ton - and possibly as high as $100 - making profits of well over $6 million (£3.4 million) for company executives.
